How to Bring a Flower Back from the Brink of Death

How to Bring a Flower Back from the Brink of Death

Most puzzles in Luma Island can be spotted fairly easily, as they reveal themselves when you discover new biomes or chop down trees. However, there’s one puzzle that usually hides unassumingly in a corner, not shouting about whether you should do anything to solve it.

This is the Dying Flower puzzle, one of the only ones in Luma Island that can only be solved once, and one that’s attached to the ‘Bring a flower back from the brink of death’ achievement. If you’ve seen these flowers around the areas you explore but aren’t sure what to do about them, here’s how you can solve it.

Luma Island provides over 90 achievements for players to get, with some being a little more complicated than others. Here’s how to unlock them all.

How to Save The Dying Flower

Saving the Dying Flower in Luma Island is as simple as taking your watering can and making sure it gets watered for a few days. You need to water it once a day for about three in-game days to make it grow, and once it’s fully grown, a treasure chest will appear and you can reap the rewards. The most challenging part of solving the Dying Flower puzzle, however, is actually finding it in each biome:

The Farm

You can find the Farm’s Dying Flower near the Mushroom Man. From his shop, head West, but keep your pathway on the north side of the map. Just continue following this path and you should see the flower hidden inside the wall of rocks.

If you’re coming from your caravan, you can follow a similar pathway from the Ancient Farm Temple. Just head eastward instead, but still hug the northern wall until you spot the flower. Water it for about three days, and you should have a treasure chest to open once it grows.

The Forest

The Dying Flower in the Forest is a little more complicated to find because you need to open up new pathways before you can find it. If you’ve entered the Forest for the first time, follow the path forward until you reach the large river that runs through it. Once you’re at the river, head north and look for a small cave you can enter. Walk through this cave until you reach the other side – bringing plenty of torches – and you’ll find yourself on the other side of the river.

Head around the water and in the direction where you started first. There’s a large tree you can knock down from this side to create a shortcut across the river. Now, turn around and continue East until you find yourself at a mud river. You can cross this river by quickly walking to the various rocks and moving wooden planks. Once you’ve crossed the mud river, you’ll want to continue to follow the path East.

If you reach the beach, then you’ve gone too far, because the Dying Flower is on the hill just above the beach. It’s near a collection of three mushrooms, hiding among the trees at the very East of the Forest map.

The Mountain

When you first reach the Mountain, you need to follow the east pathway to find the Dying Flower in this region. Unlike the Forest, you don’t need to find alternate routes or open up pathways to get to it, but you need to keep an eye out for it because it can be easy to miss.

The Mushroom man’s shop is near small ponds when you can catch Granite Groupers, and the Dying Flower is just past his shop and these ponds. Simply follow the path up the Mountain, but be sure to keep an eye out for the Dying Flower on your left as you head up.

The Jungle

Getting to The Jungle in Luma Island is vastly more challenging than finding the Dying Flower in this region, but you’ll still need to do some exploring to spot it. When you first reach the Jungle, try and spot a river just ahead of you in this starting area. You can walk through most of it, so wade through and follow the river until you reach land again. At this point, you should see large flowers that are sending out spinning blade-like leaves. Walk past them and take a sharp left instead, walking up a narrow path to get to the top of the hill.

When you get to the top of the hill, circle around the small pond here and continue following the path until you see the Dying Flower on your right. It’s just past the pond, and if you’re keeping an eye out, you won’t miss it.
