Despite it being fairly obvious what Fortnite OG was going to be when it made its return, Epic Games has been surprisingly quiet about how exactly the new mode was going to function. That’s just changed with a new blog post that reveals everything about Fortnite OG now that it’s not a limited-time event.
Fortnite OG Won’t Use Chapter 1’s Classic Movement
Over on the official Fortnite website, Epic detailed the OG game mode and made a few things clear that fans have had questions about over the past month and a bit. The biggest of these is to do with the movement options, as Epic confirmed that Fortnite OG will include all of the parkour moves that were in the game during Chapter 5, such as sprinting, sliding, mantling, bursting through doors, and moving while healing.
Strangely, it seems that the brand-new Chapter 6 parkour moves, such as rolling after jumping, charge jumping, and scrambling up walls, aren’t going to be included in OG. It’s not clear why this is, but the decision not to have OG movement is sure to be a little controversial since it’s one of the things that some fans wanted the most out of the mode’s return.
Epic says that some of the “rougher edges” from the season are present in OG, but that a few things have been changed around a little.
In the comments underneath Fortnite insider HYPEX’s tweet about the change, there’s a fairly balanced response so far, with some fans celebrating the features being included and others wondering how it can be called OG in its current state. We’ll have to see how it shakes out when the mode launches tomorrow.
