KONAMI’s eFootball 2025 has released a banger of an update with the arrival of v4.2.0. Although with minimal gameplay changes, the update has offered plenty of new features with limited-time events on the bank of a massive collaboration with the hit franchise Captain Tsubasa, eFootball 2025 looks to amp up the player experience. Let me share all the details you need to know about the update.
The collaboration between eFootball and Captain Tsubasa introduces an exciting campaign from December 5 to December 26, 2024, featuring exclusive in-game content inspired by the legendary football manga series. This campaign will go on for months since this is just Volume 1.
This event includes special cards for football stars such as Lionel Messi, Takefusa Kubo, and Luis Suarez, alongside gifting free cards for Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, and Dayot Upamecano. Messi and Kubo receive unique artwork from Captain Tsubasa creator Yoichi Takahashi, highlighting the campaign, blending the worlds of real-life football and anime.
In addition to the cards, the event offers a variety of themed rewards, including Nankatsu MS and Toho Academy MS jerseys, character avatars, exclusive badges featuring iconic characters like Tsubasa Ozora and Genzo Wakabayashi, and three collectable artworks, which is a new thing added.
You can now collect Pieces by participating in events and using them to complete Artworks. Completing an Artwork earns you rewards, and your masterpieces are displayed in the Gallery, accessible from the Mission screen. You can also earn in-game items such as training points, GP, and eFootball Coins.
GP Shop
The v4.2.0 update introduces a brand-new shop where you can exchange your GP for various items, including Skill Training Programs, Position Trainers, and Random Booster Tokens. This was very much needed to make use of GP, especially those who have stacked it up and found no use apart from Legacy Transfers.
Stadiums added on Mobile
Players on mobile, our wishes have been finally fulfilled, no more of the same experience of playing in the boring eFootball stadium! The mobile version now features five new stadiums. The complete list is below.
- Old Trafford (Manchester United)
- Emirates Stadium (Arsenal FC)

This can be viewed with the additional of a new screen before the start of a match. You can access this from the General Settings option. You can now easily set the stadium and team Strip before a match, which also can be used to change the ball and weather to add more effects.
