Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been and gone, and all the story beats and revelations have gone with them. A lot of bows are tied and mysteries are solved by the game, and now that the dust has settled and people are finally done with it, it does make you wonder where exactly the story goes from here?
Even though sales haven’t been amazing, Dragon Age is a big franchise for EA and BioWare, so it’s unlikely that Dragon Age: The Veilguard marks the end of the series. Original creator David Gaider has even suggested that BioWare has an “overall uber plot” that it’s sticking quite close to, but we don’t really have any clues as to where Dragon Age is going to go.
Dragon Age 5 Will Let BioWare Tell “Any Story We Want”
Fortunately, that suits Dragon Age: The Veilguard creative director John Epler just fine, as he recently explained in an interview with GamesRadar that he excited to tell a new story disconnected from some of the major plot beats from the the first few games, but stick with something “identifiably Dragon Age”.

Brandon Sanderson’s epic series diverges so far from familiar tropes that it’s tough going back to such traditional fantasy.
“I think what’s exciting about this one going into, say, someday we do a Dragon Age 5, or whatever comes next, I think there’s just a feeling of possibility,” says Epler. “There’s a feeling that we can tell any story we want to tell. And I think there’s going to be a lot of opportunity to tell something that feels very identifiably Dragon Age, but brings in new elements and new characters.”
A lot of fans will be hopeful that those opportunities will give BioWare the chance to actually bring in some player choices from other games, which has been one of the biggest complaints about Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Epler recently claimed that world states haven’t been forgotten, despite The Veilguard’s lack of dependency on them, so maybe we could see them worked into Dragon Age 5. Let’s hope it doesn’t take another decade though.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the long-awaited fourth game in the fantasy RPG series from BioWare formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. A direct sequel to Inquisition, it focuses on red lyrium and Solas, the aforementioned Dread Wolf.
