The first season of Black Ops 6 and Warzone acts as a testing phase for new content and weaponry, during which developers typically implement major weapon buffs and nerfs. These updates are designed to create opportunities for underused weapons while rebalancing those that are overpowered or overly dominant, promoting a more varied and dynamic selection.
Planned Weapon Buffs & Nerfs In Season 1 Reloaded (Black Ops 6)
Black Ops 6 is set to receive a “large weapon balancing” update for its arsenal, but Activision has confirmed this will be released separately from the Season 1 Reloaded update. Instead, it will arrive “shortly after launch” to address key pieces of community feedback. In the meantime, they’ve shared some “high-level changes” coming to the game:
- Headshot damage improvements on full-auto weapons
- Full removal of idle sway at the start of ADS on Sniper Rifles
- Reductions to visual recoil, sway, and bob
All Weapon Buffs & Nerfs In Season 1 Reloaded (Warzone)
In Warzone, several significant changes have been introduced to shake up the meta and provide players with new weapon options. With the game’s arsenal including weapons from previous titles like MW2 and MW3, the developers have made adjustments across all titles to create a more diverse and balanced selection. Check out all the buffs and nerfs in the game below:
Changes To Black Ops 6 Weapons In Warzone
- Full removal of idle sway at the start of ADS on Sniper Rifles
- Reductions to visual recoil, sway, and bob
Originally introduced with Modern Warfare 2 and still available up to now, these small tweaks have been highly requested by the community to improve the Sniper Rifle quickscoping experience and make their overall handling feel smoother and less clunky. However, these adjustments will only apply to Black Ops 6 weapons. As a result, players may shift away from weapons from other titles if they notice a significant performance difference after the update.

Assault Rifles remain the most user-friendly and effective choice for controlling long-range engagements, as demonstrated by popular choices like the XM4 and Model L, both of which offer low recoil for better accuracy. To enhance their performance, bullet velocity has been increased — improving hit registration — a critical factor in Warzone’s long-range combat scenarios.
Additionally, the damage ranges of several underperforming weapons have been individually adjusted to bring them closer in line with the current meta. The BP50, a popular choice for close-range combat and often used as sniper support since MW3‘s era, has been nerfed, creating a space for other weapons options like SMGs to join the rotation.

Static-HV (MW3)

- Upper Torso, Lower Torso, and Arm modifiers decreased from 1.1x to 1x
SMGs excel in close-quarters combat, where mobility and speed are essential for success. While most perform well in these areas, they have struggled with range and body extremities damage modifiers, often feeling underpowered compared to other options like Shotguns, particularly in mid to close-range fights. However, other strong options, like the Static-HV and Striker from MW3, were slightly nerfed, requiring players to land more headshots or upper torso shots for optimal effectiveness.

- Maximum Damage Range increased from 30m to 40m

- Minimum Damage Range increased from >30m to >40m
Dominating Season 1 with their high damage output and large magazines, popular choices like the RAAL MG (MW2) have seen significant damage nerfs, despite their versatility across various ranges. To compensate for the inherent heaviness and slower handling of LMGs compared to other weapon classes, their ADS speed has been improved. Additionally, extremity damage modifiers have been adjusted to make engagements feel more consistent.

- Bullet Velocity increased from 830m/s to 870m/s
Tsarkov 7.62

Much like Assault Rifles, Marksman Rifles are intended to be strong contenders for long-range engagements. While some, like the AEK-973, have carved out a spot in the meta, issues with hit registration at long distances have persisted. The buff to bullet velocity should significantly improve their performance in these scenarios, making them more reliable for precise, long-range combat.
