XDefiant, the game that Ubisoft had intended to be a real rival to Activision’s Call of Duty series, is being shut down just six months after launch. This comes after a consistently decreasing amount of players and reports that Ubisoft has given the developers a timeline on how long they had to improve numbers.
This news was first announced by XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin, who announced on Twitter that the game will be shut down, and that the game is no longer accepting new downloads or player registrations. Plans to release all of the content promised for Season 3 are still going ahead, though a date has yet to be determined, and the game’s servers will be fully shut down on June 3, 2025.
XDefiant is a competitive online shooter that brings together several IPs under the Ubisoft banner, from Watch Dogs to its many Tom Clancy games.
