The Most Valuable Genesect Pokemon TCG Cards

The Most Valuable Genesect Pokemon TCG Cards

Since its debut in the black-and-white era, Genesect has been one of the most unusual characters to appear in the Pokemon TCG. Its futuristic bug-like appearance and ability to change its attacks based on what Drive it downloads make it a standout from the Black and White era in both design and function.

Pokemon TCG: The 13 Most Valuable Cards In Paldea Evolved

Find out the highest value of the cards from Paldea Evolved and whether you’ve collected an expensive gem.

While some of its earliest cards are becoming more valuable as time passes, Genesect isn’t the type to get stuck in the past, as it continues to provide new favorites from the Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield eras. Let’s tour the eras, as these valuable Genesect cards represent some of the best styles from their respective generations.

Cards are ordered according to their
TCGPlayer
Market Price,
which you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below.

However,
sale prices differ depending on the card’s condition,
so this market price is just a rough idea of the card’s value.

5 Shining Genesect: Shining Legends (Shiny Holo Rare) – $9.25

A Bright Start

The Genesect from Shining Legends in the Pokemon TCG.

Genesect’s red shiny form stands out as one of the best Shiny Holos from Shining Legends, despite a relatively tame price compared to some of the other expensive cards from the set. Genesect’s shift from purple to red makes its shiny impossible to miss, and strangely fits the Pokemon’s futuristic bug vibe exceptionally well.

Moderately played (MP) cards tend to sell for a little below the market price, clocking a shade below $7.50, while lightly played (LP) cards don’t quite break the eight-dollar mark in most cases. However, NM cards command the most, sometimes reaching heights of $12.99.

4 Genesect V: Fusion Strike (Alternate Full Art) – $13.99

Let’s Break This Down

The Genesect V from Fusion Strike in the Pokemon TCG.

Genesect V faces impressive competition from the most valuable cars in Fusion Strike, but it’s hard to argue against it being one of the most unique Alt Arts in the set. If you’ve ever wanted to see your favorite Pokemon breakdancing, then you’ve likely been sorely disappointed until you saw this card.

Given Fusion Strike’s relatively recent release, most cards are still in NM condition and have undergone some massive spikes and dips since release. In 2024, Genesect hit a high of over $20 during June but promptly had its mountainous rise eroded during the latter half of the year, dropping to below $15.

3 Genesect GX: Lost Thunder (Secret Rare) – $14.19

A Prismatic Explosion

The Genesect from Lost Thunder in the Pokemon TCG.

While Lost Thunder’s most valuable cards tend to fly under the radar as one of the less popular Sun and Moon era sets, it still boasts several Rainbow Secret Rare cards that feature the generation’s signature design. While the recolor works well for Genesect, this stark change is still a polarizing choice, leaving this card with a divisive reputation.

Sometimes to stand out from the pack, you need to blend in.

You can find LP copies much more often on TCGplayer than those in worse conditions, so expect to pay around $7.37 and upward if you don’t mind settling for an imperfect card. However, if you’re looking for perfection from an NM copy, sales rise above $30 in rare cases, though you can find other sales hovering around $15.

2 Genesect EX (Team Plasma): Plasma Blast (Ultra Rare) – $53.64

Lurking In The Past

The Genesect from Plasma Blast in the Pokemon TCG.

The Genesect from Plasma Blast earns a spot as one of the top cards in that set and similarly claims an impressive place as one of the most expensive Genesect cards on the market. This card’s art is stunning, and Genesect’s purple coat is perfectly suited to the blue Team Plasma background.

Unfortunately for collectors, even MP copies can cost a decent amount, with prices starting at $20 and moving up into the $40 and up range for an LP card. If you only want the best, prepare to pony up with NM sales exceeding $50, illustrating a massive price jump from Genesect’s previous card.

Unleashing The Power Of Technology

The Genesect Black and White Promo from the Pokemon TCG.

If you thought Genesect was just going to fizzle out with a card slightly above the previous market price, then you may be shocked to see this Genesect promo’s incredibly high price tag, exceeding the combined total of all four of the other Genesect cards on this list.

You could add up the cost of Genesect’s top 15 cards under this,
and you still wouldn’t come close to the value that this Black and White promo card holds.

While there’s almost no chance that this card will be surpassed anytime soon, you should be wary of overpaying, as there aren’t any recent sales on TCGplayer to give an idea of this card’s current value. There are two NM listings currently available for more than the market price, but it’s hard to say where the market values this card until there’s more recent data to analyze.
