But, one thing that stood out to the fans quite a lot in this chapter was the re-emergence of an explorer who showed up in the series previously, who goes by the name of Luis Arnot. While this character might be pushed to the side by the fans simply because he has never been seen, his importance to the plot might be tremendous.
Who Is Louis Arnot?
- An Explorer who first came up during Little Garden
- Potentially the mystery man of Elbaf
Louis Arnot is an explorer who exists in the One Piece World. Currently, it is unknown whether Louis Arnot is alive or dead. But, what fans can say for sure is that Luis Arnot is deeply invested in the story of the Giants and everywhere where the Giants have lived. The most notable contribution of this explorer in the One Piece world is his work named Brag Men. In Brag Men, there are many tales that are supposedly believed by the people to be myths, but are considered to be real by fellow explorers, much like the Grand Line itself. Louis Arnot is also known specifically for giving the island named Little Garden its name. According to Louis, the reason why this island is called Little Garden is because to its inhabitants, which are prehistoric animals, and along with them, Dorry and Brogy at the time, this island is nothing but a small garden. This is the reason why Arnot became famous to many people, along with much else that he did in One Piece.
To the inhabitants of this island, it truly is a little garden. Therefore, let’s name it Little Garden. – Louis Arnot, Explorer
Unfortunately, Luis Arnot was not mentioned again in One Piece for quite a while after his introduction in the Little Garden Arc. As such, fans deemed him to be an irrelevant character who did not have much in the story to add. However, with the Elbaf Arc now having begun, it is clear that Louis Arnot is actually a very important character and that his obsession with the culture of the Giants, along with much else is worth something at the very least.
In One Piece chapter 1132, Louis Arnot showed up once again. Around this time, fans were introduced to another note by Luis Arnot from when he was exploring Elbaf, likely around the same time when he was exploring Little Garden as well. This means that the note written by Louis Arnot should be about 100 years or more old. According to Louis Arnot, Elbaf is a wondrous country, filled with lush forests, absolutely massive animals and insects, and everything else that matches the scale. The grandeur of this place is unbeatable, and fellow explorers will not regret their lost time on this particular Island. However, Louis Arnot also had a warning for his explorers. He specifically asked them to not spend too much time in Elbaf.
Is Louis Arnot Elbaf’s Mysterious Man?
Arnot Could’ve Been Seen In One Piece Already
In One Piece chapter 1132, Louis Arnot was given quite a lot of importance. This was down to several reasons, one of which was him revealing exciting bits of information about Elbaf, while the other was his note actually being right next to Elbaf’s mysterious person. For quite a while now, fans have been waiting to see who the mysterious Elbaf man in a silhouette truly is. The identity of this person remains a secret even now, and he has shown up two times in the story already. But, in One Piece chapter 1132, Oda craftily put this note right next to the mysterious man of Elbaf, which suggests that this character might actually be Arnot himself. This raises quite a lot of questions and some fans might even deem this to be impossible.
However, this idea has enough ground to stand on, especially because of the way Oda portrayed it in the previous chapter.
Do not overstay your welcome in Elbaf! – Louis Arnot, Explorer
There’s also the problem that none of the characters that fans think of him actually fit the billing of this person. Of course, Scopper Gaban is a good guess, as is Shiki, but both of them have little importance at this point in One Piece. Gaban is likely not going to be more important than Rayleigh, but the possibility of the mysterious man being him cannot be denied. Shiki is highly unlikely to be the mysterious man, because Oda has previously clearly stated that if something is used in a movie as an idea, it is only because he intends to not use it in his main story.

Given that Shiki was already in Strong World, the idea of the mysterious man being him, even though it would actually make sense, has a very weak ground.
The lack of perfect candidates further goes on to emphasize the importance of Louis Arnot. This person could very well end up being him, simply because Oda specifically brought back Arnot around the same time he reintroduced the mysterious man in Elbaf.
What Time Period Did Louis Arnot Exist In?
Arnot Was Alive Around 20-100 Years Ago
Upon seeing the mysterious man in Elbaf in One Piece chapter 1132, fans have started to wonder whether this person is Louis Arnot himself. But, then, a problem certainly arises. This problem is that Louis Arnot’s note was from over 100 years ago, or somewhere around that time. This means that he was exploring over a century ago and it is also around that time period that he went to Elbaf. For him to still be alive right now after over a century of expiration doesn’t make much sense, or, at the very least, doesn’t seem probable.
But, when one looks at Arnot in the previous chapter, where he asks explorers to not regret their lost time in Elbaf, things certainly start clicking. Arnot also continued to warn explorers to not spend too long in Elbaf. This, when combined with the previous statement, which Oda specifically emphasized, suggests that time can actually be lost in Elbaf, meaning time here flows differently from time outside the country. It is possible that time in Elbaf flows much slower, and those who come here and eventually go back find out that the world has moved ahead and they have lost a lot of time.
Based on that, if Arnot was truly in Elbaf, he could still very well be alive and be introduced to Luffy as an explorer from a bygone time. Fans don’t even know what time Arnot existed in, only that his book, Brag Men, is from about 100 years ago. There’s a lot of exciting information pertaining to this character that could be revealed soon if the mysterious man does turn out to be him.
