The Best SquidFest Prizes In Stardew Valley

When update 1.6 came out for Stardew Valley, small fishing festivals were added, including SquidFest. This festival takes place on the beach on the 12th and 13th of winter every year, starting at 6:10 A.M. and ending at 2:00 A.M. As you catch squids, there are different prizes that you can collect from the booth.

On the first day, the maximum amount of squids you can get prizes for is eight, and on the second day, it’s ten. The prizes are separated into categories: copper, iron, gold, and iridium. Keep reading to find out which of the prizes are the best!

11 Coffee And Espresso

One of the worst prizes that you can get is Coffee or Triple Shot Espresso. While it’s great that it makes you move around faster (and fish faster), it’s not a very unique prize. It won’t help you catch fish, and it’s something you can make yourself if you have a coffee seed.

Of course, it’s not useless. It will move you around to different areas to fish faster, and if you’re in your first year and don’t have coffee plants, a keg, or a kitchen yet, this can be helpful.

10 Winter Seeds

Winter seeds are always helpful because they give you Crocus, Crystal Fruit, Snow Yams, and Winter Roots. As a prize, you’ll get 10 or 15 seeds. Something unique about these seeds is that crows will not attack them.

This is lower on the list because you can craft this item yourself. It’s also only available in the Winter, though, of course, you can plant the seeds on Ginger Island at any time.

9 Deluxe Bait

Deluxe Bait causes fish to bite even faster and increases the size of your fishing bar. It can be placed in crab pots or used on more advanced fishing rods.

This is great because you can use it right away at the SquidFest to get more squids. That being said, there are many other places where you can get this bait, so it’s not as great of a prize as some of the others.

Don’t wait until you have all the squids to collect your prize. Instead, get them as you go.

8 Mystery Boxes

With Mystery Boxes, you can get either two or three boxes as a prize. These boxes can give you a variety of prizes, and you can open them at the Blacksmith shop for 25g.

This can either be a worthless prize or a fantastic one, depending on what you get when you open it. You can get mixed seeds, warp totems, books, meals, wallpapers, or more.

7 Trap Bobber

The Trap Bobber is one of the early prizes that you get on the second day, which is great because you can add it to your fishing pole so that it helps you catch squids. This bobber causes fish to escape slower when you’re not reeling them in.

You can also use Trap Bobbers to fish anywhere else to advance your fishing level. As you get better poles, you can fit more tackles to step your game up.

6 Treasure Chest

The Treasure Chest is an open pinkish-red chest that’s full of gold and other treasures. At SquidFest, you’ll get it if you catch seven squids on the 13th of Winter.

The Treasure Chest has two major uses. You can sell it for 5000g, or you can use it to decorate your fish tanks. If you put it in a tank, it’ll sit on the bottom, and it doesn’t affect how many fish you can have.

You can get fish tanks at Willy’s shop or in catalogs.

5 Food

There are two dishes that you can get as prizes during SquidFest. The first one is Dish of the Sea. This gives you +3 fishing, which can help a lot in SquidFest. The other dish is Seafoam Pudding, which gives you +4 pudding.

Remember, you don’t have to use these dishes during the festival alone. You can use them to catch difficult-to-catch fish, particularly Legendary Fish.

4 “The Art O’ Crabbing” Book

The Art O’ Crabbing is a book that you can get through SquidFest. Once you read it, it gives Crab Pots a 25% chance to yield two items instead of one. If you read it again after the first time, you’ll gain 100 Fishing XP.

This is a bit lower on the list because it’s only helpful once. Once you read it, it won’t appear at SquidFest again. This book can also be bought at the Bookseller, which makes it less valuable as a prize.

3 Squid Hat

The Squid Hat is one of the harder hats to grab in the game. You can only get it if you reach the Iridium level on the 13th day of winter, which means you have to catch ten squids. You cannot get the hat any other way.

The Squid Hat is a super fun accessory. It has the top of the squid with two eyes, so it looks like the hat is alive on your head. It’s unique and fun, and well worth the effort.

2 ‘Squid Kid’ Painting

The ‘Squid Kid’ Painting is a guaranteed reward if you get eight squids on the first day of SquidFest. It’s a framed painting of a squid with wide eyes in a beautiful blue frame.

This painting is unique to SquidFest, which makes it one of the better prizes. You can hang it anywhere in your house or shed to add a bit of aquatic air.

1 Pearl

If you catch five squids on the 12th of winter, you’re guaranteed to get a pearl. This is the best item that you get at SquidFest. Pearls are one of the rarer gems in the game, and they have a variety of uses.

You can give a pearl as a gift to any of the villagers, sell it for 2,500g, or use it to buy a Birch Double Bed at the Desert Trader. You can also use it to create a veil, which you can wear on your wedding day.
