Sunday has been one of the most anticipated Penacony characters in Honkai: Star Rail, largely due to his unique personality, compelling involvement in the storyline, and the fact that he was introduced as a playable character later than the rest of the cast. The anticipation has paid off, as Sunday proves to be an exceptional support unit. His abilities not only enhance hypercarry characters but also significantly boost summons, a feature expected to gain prominence in the evolving combat meta. This is especially relevant as players explore the new Remembrance path, set to redefine team strategies starting from version 3.0.

Best Sunday Relics In Honkai: Star Rail
Sunday’s playstyle in Honkai: Star Rail is quite similar to Bronya and Sparkle, as he focuses on buffing the team based on his Crit DMG while also advancing allies forward—particularly effective for summons. His optimal build follows a familiar pattern, especially regarding relics and stat priorities, but with a few unique twists that enhance his supportive role.
The ideal relic set for Sunday is the 4-piece Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal. The 2-piece bonus boosts his Speed, which is essential for timing his buffs. The 4-piece bonus perfectly complements his kit, as both his Skill and Ultimate are single-target abilities that provide a near-permanent Crit DMG buff to the chosen ally. This synergy makes it invaluable for hypercarry and summon-based teams.
For players who struggle to obtain optimal pieces, a 2-piece Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal mixed with 2-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace is also viable. This setup further enhances Sunday’s Speed, making it easier to adjust his turn order relative to the DPS. Ideally, Sunday should act slightly slower – 1 or 2 less speed than the main DPS to advance their turn and boost their damage potential right after their action.
For planar ornaments, Broken Keel is the top choice being one of the best general support planar sets, providing a Crit DMG boost to the entire team as long as Sunday’s Effect RES reaches 30%. Alternatively, Lushaka, the Sunken Seas offers great utility, granting energy regeneration for Sunday and boosting ATK for the first ally in the team setup. This option shines in teams where the hypercarry or summon unit scales well with ATK.
For the main and sub-stats of the relics and planar ornaments, players have considerable flexibility, as the only crucial stat is Crit DMG. It is recommended that players aim for at least 200% Crit DMG for Sunday, which means prioritizing this stat on the Body piece as well as through sub-stats. Beyond Crit DMG, players should focus on maintaining relatively high SPD by equipping SPD boots and accumulating enough SPD sub-stats to keep Sunday slightly slower than the target character, allowing for optimal turn order synergy. To activate his Ultimate as frequently as possible, equipping Energy Regeneration Rate on the Link Rope is essential.
For the remaining stats, players have more freedom and can prioritize defensive options such as Effect RES (Sunday’s traces also provide Effect RES, which help him reach 30% easily), along with HP and DEF, to enhance Sunday’s overall survivability.
Best Sunday Light Cones In Honkai: Star Rail
Sunday undoubtedly benefits the most from his signature light cone, A Grounded Ascent as his best light cone option. It not only boosts his Energy but also significantly enhances the targeted ally’s DMG output, even without any superimposition. Additionally, although Sunday is already SP neutral, this light cone can make him SP positive, as it allows him to recover a skill point once every two uses of his Skill or Ultimate.
For players seeking less premium alternatives, Bronya’s signature, But the Battle Isn’t Over, serves as a viable 5-star option from the standard banner. Similar to A Grounded Ascent, it provides DMG boosts to the target, energy regeneration for Sunday, and the ability to recover skill points every two Ultimates. Another solid 5-star option is Sparkle’s light cone, Earthly Escapade, which enhances Sunday’s Crit DMG and grants the team Crit Rate and Crit DMG. However, unlike Sparkle, Sunday struggles to generate skill points consistently, limiting the uptime of this light cone’s effect and making it less appealing compared to freemium options like Bronya’s signature.
For 4-star options, Past and Future is the best fit, as it synergizes well with Sunday’s ability to advance allies forward while boosting their DMG. For teams with multiple Imaginary characters, Planetary Rendezvous can also be a strong choice, offering a DMG boost to allies of the same element. Additionally, Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds, Dance! Dance! Dance!, and Dreamville Adventure are more generalized and versatile support options that can suit Sunday depending on team needs. Ultimately, while his BIS light cone is ideal, it is not essential as it is for characters like Acheron or Boothill, who rely heavily on their signature light cones, especially considering that Sunday is a support unit that doesn’t need too much min-maxing.
Sunday Trace Priority In Honkai: Star Rail
While players should aim to maximize all of Sunday’s traces and additional skill tree buffs or effects (excluding his Basic ATK), those low on resources should prioritize the following order for the most significant impact:
1. Skill
2. Ultimate = Talent
3. Basic ATK
