Stardew Valley’s Baldur’s Gate 3 Conversion Mod Is Nearing Release

Stardew Valley's Baldur's Gate 3 Conversion Mod Is Nearing Release

Key Takeaways

  • The team behind Baldur’s Village have announced the mod is nearing completion.
  • The team is focusing on releasing English and Chinese versions at first.
  • New screenshots show off some of Alfira and Astarion’s stories.

Stardew Valley and Baldur’s Gate 3 are a natural crossover. The bonds of friendship and community formed with your companions while on a shared quest to defeat the Netherbrain are comparable to the communal spirit of Pelican Town. If you asked me, which is harder: saving Faerun or catching the world’s largest catfish, I know which one I’d choose.

Crossovers aren’t really Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone’s style, though references to Stardew Valley have appeared in other games such as Terraria and Balatro. Thankfully, modders are hard at work creating an unofficial crossover between Baldur’s Gate 3 and Stardew Valley, entitled Baldur’s Village.

Baldur's Village, a mod for Stardew Valley that adds Baldur's Gate 3 characters. Astarion can be seen in the top right of the house.

The project was first announced by Xun in April, who predicted the mod would be ready closer to the end of the year. In a recent update post, Xun confirmed the mod was nearing release, with the team now focusing primarily on writing and translation.

“The first part of our mod is finished, and we’ve had amazing players from around the world volunteer to help translate it into different languages. Since most volunteers will be translating from English, and our team primarily works in Chinese, we’ve decided to focus on wrapping up the English version first. This way, both the Chinese and English versions will be ready for players as soon as we launch,” writes Xun.

Welcome to Baldur’s Village

They go on to say that Baldur’s Village is “almost here” and that this latest post will be the final update until the mod is officially launched. The post is accompanied by a collage of screenshots from Baldur’s Village.

The screenshots primarily feature Alfira and Astarion. The Tiefling Bard appears to arrive at the village’s tavern through a portal. As she is musically inclined, a tavern may be the perfect place for her. As for Astarion, his story appears to be more sinister. We can see the vampiric Elf covered in blood and hiding what appears to be a body underneath a bloody tarp.

We’ll have to wait and see what Baldur’s Village’s narrative ends up being when it releases “soon” but so far, the team looks to be taking it into more interesting territory than just romantic fan fiction.
