After a recent announcement, it seems that Lupin fans are in for a treat. The series revealed a new project called Lupin The IIIrd The Movie. It is being produced by Telecom Animation Film, and it will air sometime in 2025. This is the first 2D feature-length movie that the franchise has released in nearly 30 years. Naturally, the expectations are high, as it has been a long time since fans saw something in the same mold.

For starters, Telecom Animation Film will be in charge of producing the anime. Previously, the studio worked on the following anime series:

• Kami no Tou
• Ao no Hako
• Baki
• Orange

Telecom Animation Film has also been the go-to studio for almost all anime adaptations. Takeshi Koike will serve as the movie’s director. He has worked on Afro Samurai, Dororo, Hajime no Ippo, and many other popular anime. Aside from the studio and director’s confirmation, no details about the plot have been revealed. But it is safe to assume that more updates will come out as the movie nears release.

Lupin The 3rd Is A Must-Watch

Lupin The 3rd has been written and illustrated by Monkey Punch. The manga was serialized in the Weekly Manga Action from August 10, 1967. The second Lupin the 3rd manga was released in the Weekly Manga Action in July 1977. The series also received an Isekai spin-off called Lupin III: Neighbor World Princess. It was written by Yōsuke Saeki and released in the Weekly Shonen Champion in August 2021.

Lupin the 3rd has received countless anime adaptations over the years. The first of which aired in October 1971. It ran for 23 episodes, and the finale aired on March 26, 1972. The second anime adaptation was released in 1977, and it was significantly longer, with more than 150 episodes. This was followed by another anime that was released in 1984.

After a lengthy break, the series returned with another installment in 2012. This was followed by another anime series, which premiered in 2015. The most recent anime adaptation was released in October 2021 to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Aside from the anime adaptations, Lupin the 3rd has also been the recipient of many anime movies.
