Is Premium Edition Worth It?

After years of anticipation, Indiana Jones fans will finally get to experience a proper AAA game based on the iconic series. Fans worldwide can delve into Indiana Jones and the Great Circle starting December 9 (or December 6 for those with early access). What makes this game particularly intriguing is its placement within the established film canon — it’s set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.

Excluding the Collector’s Edition, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is available in two editions: Standard and Premium. The Premium Edition, as expected, includes additional content and comes at a higher price. However, the key question is whether the extra content justifies the added cost — a question the guide below explores in great detail.

Premium Edition Content

As expected, the Premium Edition includes the base game along with additional content, which some fans may find appealing. However, these extras come at a price. The Premium Edition is priced at $99.99 and offers the following:

  • Base Game
  • The Order of Giants Story DLC
  • Temple of Doom Outfit
  • Digital Artbook

In addition, Premium Edition owners will gain three days of early access to the game. For these players, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be available starting December 6. Standard Edition owners and Game Pass subscribers, however, will be able to play the game beginning December 9.

The DLC currently does not have a confirmed release date, but more details will be shared in the future.

Pre-Order Bonus

Players who purchase either edition of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle before November 9 will receive The Last Crusade Pack, which includes two cosmetic items to enhance Indy’s iconic style. The items in question are:

  • Traveling Suit Outfit
  • Lion Tamer Whip

Both items are inspired by the 1989 Indiana Jones movie, The Last Crusade.

Is the Premium Edition Worth It?

The Premium Edition of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle offers a fair amount of content for its $30 premium. While many fans may not be particularly interested in the Digital Artbook or Cosmetic Pack, and the three-day early access might not be a strong selling point, the standout feature that could justify the upgrade is The Order of Giants Story DLC.

However, the lack of information about the DLC at launch leaves players in the dark about what they’re actually purchasing until it may be too late for a refund. Fortunately, players can always choose to upgrade to the Premium Edition later by purchasing the Premium Edition Upgrade for $35 once the DLC details are revealed.

Given this, the Premium Edition might not currently justify the extra cost. Most players would be better off sticking with the Standard Edition for now.
