Updated December 4, 2024, by Usama Ali: A Fish Frenzy is a special event in Stardew Valley where a specific type of fish spawns in large numbers in a particular fishing spot. This makes it so much easier to catch a lot of those fish in a short amount of time. You can use these events to your advantage by waiting for a valuable fish to trigger a Frenzy. This way, you can reel in some high-quality fish in a short period and sell them for quick profits in Stardew Valley.

A Fish Frenzy is a new random event in Stardew Valley where several fish of the same type spawn together in a bubbly spot. This makes it so much easier to catch a particular kind of fish, provided that it can be caught during the current season and weather pattern. They can occur at The Beach, Pelican Town, Cindersap Forest, or The Mountain.

While they look similar to the regular bubbling spots, Fish Frenzies are far more intense. Fish practically leap out of the water and throw themselves at your bait – begging to be caught. Fishing in these special spots significantly increases your chances of catching the specific fish for the frenzy.

How To Get A Fish Frenzy

Fish Frenzies are daily events that randomly occur during the day, before 11 PM, as long as there is no festival on that day.

To experience a Fish Frenzy, you must meet at least one of the following conditions:

  • Catch at least three fish and play for at least 3 days.
  • Play for a minimum of 14 days, regardless of the fish caught.

Once you fulfill these conditions, you’ll get the chance to encounter a Fish Frenzy every day. Each Fish Frenzy is focused on one particular type of fish and one location.

When a Fish Frenzy begins, you will get an in-game notification that states, “A [fish name] frenzy has begun in [location name].” Fish Frenzies only last for two hours, so make sure to grab your fishing rod and head to the given location quickly.

How to Maximize A Fishing Frenzy in Stardew Valley

As soon as you receive a Fishing Frenzy notification, immediately go to the designated location with all of your fishing gear and supplies. This includes your fishing rod and a good amount of Bait and Bobbers. Once you’re at the Fish Frenzy spot, look for bubbles in the water and cast your line there. These bubbles are a surefire sign of a big catch.

You can enhance your fishing skills and unlock an

Advanced Iridium Rod

when you reach level 6, which comes with attachments for both bait and tackle. This rod makes it easier to complete the fishing minigame and catch higher-quality fish.

Every fish in Stardew Valley has a unique base price that increases with its quality. For instance, Gold and Iridium quality fish sell for almost double the price of their regular counterparts. To maximize your profits during a Fishing Frenzy, wait for an expensive fish to trigger a Frenzy. This way, you can catch multiple high-value fish and sell them for profit.

You can also
double the price of a fish
while retaining its quality by using a

Fish Frenzy Locations

A Fishing Frenzy can only occur in the following locations in Stardew Valley:

  • Pelican Town River
  • Cindersap Forest River or Lake
  • The Mountain Lake
  • The Beach

While Fish Frenzes offer increased catch rates and the chance to reel in elusive fish, the game’s rarest catches, known as
Legendary Fish,
will never be a part of these frenzies.
