The competition in Fortnite Battle Royale is fierce, whether in Builds, Zero Build, or even Reload. Everyone is playing to win, and with players employing new strategies to gain an edge over the competition, it’s no wonder others may look to improve their own skills to stay ahead. One vital component of Fortnite is improving accuracy, and various tools can help players achieve this.
Jumping into aim trainers and priming accuracy for success are just some of the ways players can improve. However, something as simple as setting up a custom crosshair can make a huge difference. Custom crosshairs are an excellent way to eliminate the distracting visual clutter of Fortnite’s default reticle, allowing players to focus better and take their aim to the next level.

How To Get a Custom Crosshair in Fortnite
Unfortunately, Fortnite itself does not offer custom crosshairs that players can adjust in the settings. However, PC players can turn to third-party software to achieve this feature, leaving console players to rely on a monitor that comes with preset crosshairs as part of its settings.
There are several programs available that provide custom crosshairs, with two standout options being featured on the Epic Games Store: Crosshair V2 and Crosshair X. While Crosshair X is priced at $7.99, Crosshair V2 is free, making it a great choice for those looking for a cost-effective solution.
How To Setup a Custom Crosshair With Crosshair V2
Crosshair V2 is an easy start-up and play solution for players looking to get their hands on a solid custom crosshair for Fortnite. Before players can begin setting up their crosshair, they must first disable the reticle provided in Fortnite. This can be done by:
- Navigating over to Settings and heading to the Game UI Tab.
- Setting Reticle to Off.
Once done, players can go ahead and open up Crosshair V2 via the Epic Games Store. Opening up the software will automatically apply a crosshair to the center of the screen, one which can then be altered in-game with the following hotkeys:
- Z: Change Color
- C: Change Size
- X: Change Shape
Crosshair V2 will need to remain open for the crosshair to remain active, but players can hit F2 to hide the application’s menu, letting players get back into the action without any distractions. The simplicity Crosshair V2 provides makes it an excellent option for players looking for a quick and easy solution.
If players want to get even more customization options for their custom crosshair, they can always get their hands on Crosshair X, either through the Epic Games Store or by upgrading to it through Crosshair V2 by pressing D9.
If the crosshair does not show up in game, ensure that Display Mode is set to Fullscreen or Windowed and that Rendering is set to Direct X12.
