If you’ve been hunting down all the Journalist Stashes, chances are you’ve hit a dead end after reaching the military base in the Duga region of Stalker 2. The base is highly guarded by snipers in the watchtowers that can one-shot you if you get too close to the main gate. A couple of soldiers are also patrolling the base, keeping intruders out. So, how can you get to the base to secure a special suit and the Journalist Stash in the Duga region? Let’s check it out.

How to Safely Enter the Duga Region Base in Stalker 2

Duga is a region in the southwest corner of the map that holds one of the Journalist stashes in a highly guarded base just past the Burnt Forest region in Stalker 2. If players approach the base, one of the snipers will shoot at them, leading to an instant game over. However, there’s a safe way to enter the base in Duga, and it’s only possible with a stealthy approach.

Make sure to save your game
frequently, especially before entering the warehouse in the Duga Base to avoid making the long journey again.

Here’s how to enter the Duga base safely in Stalker 2.


  1. Approach the base from the southern side and enter through a small gate whose location is marked on the map above.
  2. Keep heading in the direction of the Journalist Stash while hugging the buildings on the right to approach a warehouse.
  3. Make sure to save your game before entering the warehouse as there’s a Burer inside ready to shoot a million bullets at you.
  4. Carefully hide behind the cover and approach the Burer to take it out with either 2-3 well-aimed shotgun shells to the head or some sniper shots.

Once you’ve defeated the Burer, now it’s time to take the Journalist Stash. However, there’s a minor puzzle along the way and players must solve to open the cell that holds the Stash and other goodies.

How to Open the Cell to Get the Journalist Cache in Duga Base

To open the Cell door in the Duga Base, which holds the Journalist Stash and a suit with high PSI Protection, players must perform a series of actions.


  1. First, start up the generator right next to the cell in front of the containers to restore power.
  2. After powering up the generator, turn around, go forward, and head up to the control room in the warehouse.
  3. Push the red button on the console to release the cell doors.
  4. Head back down to the cells and open them to finally loot the Duga Journalist stash and the PSI protection suit.

Inside the Duga Journalist Stash, players will find a special rifle called “SA-U GABION” with some ammo. Towards the left of the Journalist Stash, players can pick up the “SEVA-1 Suit” from the locker, which offers high PSI Protection.

Now make sure to exit the base the same way you entered. Do not try to exit the base through the main entrance as it’ll trigger the sniper to shoot you. Additionally, do save your game after receiving the items in case you die trying to exit the base.
