You’re not going to want to pass up this chance to bag a veritable sackful of new Steam Deck games for just $11.99 / £8.99, including brilliant titles such as Old World and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, saving you a massive $229.92 / £198.99 over the total MSRP. Yes, the December Humble Choice games are now out, and all eight of them are certified as verified or playable on the Steam Deck.
If you’re lucky enough to own the best gaming handheld you can buy right now, then we thoroughly recommend signing up for a monthly subscription to Humble Choice. You can cancel your sub at any time and, what’s more, even if you do cancel, the games will remain yours forever. It’s a great way to get a regular monthly dosage of new games for your Steam Deck.
The very latest Humble Choice game selection is always unveiled on the first Tuesday of each month of the year, enabling you to expand your PC and Steam Deck game library with eight new games every month, and saving you loads on the full prices of the games. This latest month’s game drop (December 2024) sees the following titles added to Humble Choice:
- Bomb Rush Cyberfunk – Steam Deck Verified
- Old World – Steam Deck Playable
- Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand – Steam Deck Playable
- Crime Boss Rockay City – Steam Deck Verified
- The Invincible – Steam Deck Verified
- Moonstone Island – Steam Deck Verified
- Inkulinati – Steam Deck Verified
- Venba – Steam Deck Verified
- Monster Prom 3: Monster Roadtrip – Steam Deck Verified
There are several expensive games in this generous selection, with Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Old World, and Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand all usually costing $39.99 / £34.99 at full price, so getting all eight of these games for just $11.99 / £8.99 is a genuine bargain. At full price, you would pay $241.91 / £207.98 for all these games.
What’s more, every one of these games has been certified to work on the Steam Deck. Six of them are Steam Deck Verified, which means they will work fine on the handheld. Two of them, Old World and Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand, have Playable status, where the games will work, but with some caveats.
In the case of Old World, for example, the game’s default graphics settings work fine on the deck, but some small text can be hard to read, and you may sometimes need to use the touch-screen and virtual keyboard, rather than just the standard controls.
One of our favorites from this month’s selection is Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, which has absolutely stunning visuals and licensed music. It channels that old-school Jet Set Radio gameplay loop really well. We also particularly like how there are multiple ways of getting around in the game – you can skate, cycle, or skateboard, and each one is a load of fun.
Old World is good fun too, taking the historical, hex-based 4X strategy of Civilization and infusing it with some excellent character-led drama, akin to the likes of Crusader Kings 3.
Another highlight is Crime Boss, which is a goofy Payday-like heist game featuring a cast of ’80s and ’90s stars. It pays lovable homage to the ‘so bad it’s good’ performances of classic action flicks, and it’s great fun.
