Genshin Impact Leak Reveals Major Mavuika Changes

Genshin Impact Leak Reveals Major Mavuika Changes

Key Takeaways

  • According to a new leak, Mavuika in Genshin Impact will receive major nerfs in Version 5.3, potentially pushing her towards a hypercarry role.
  • The changes to Mavuika signal a potential departure from the established pattern in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact has made some major changes to Mavuika in the latest beta build, and players may not necessarily like what these changes imply. Traditionally, Archons in Genshin Impact have leaned towards support roles, usually in a way that best exemplifies their element. While Raiden Shogun can be played as a hypercarry, her ability kit primarily offers Energy Recharge and off-field Electro Damage. On the other hand, Zhongli is considered to be the best Shield Support in Genshin Impact – which certainly fits Geo as an element.

In contrast to the seven Archons, the Fatui Harbingers in Genshin Impact are considered selfish hypercarries, with very little off-field or support potential in their ability kit. Both Arlecchino and Tartaglia are perfect examples of what a Harbinger brings to the table, even if the latter is humorously used as support by certain Neuvillette teams in Genshin Impact. However, if the recent changes to Mavuika come to pass, Version 5.3 is set to break this assumed pattern in a major way.

Rumor: Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Two New Natlan Characters

According to a recent datamine, the upcoming weekly boss in Genshin Impact reveals the identity of two new Natlan characters that will join the cast.

According to HomDGCat, the latest beta build for Version 5.3 comes with a significant nerf to Mavuika’s damage. While many players were worried about Mavuika being too powerful as a hypercarry, the new nerf comes with an unfortunate side effect to her support abilities. By reducing the damage bonus provided by Mavuika via her Elemental Burst, it funnels the Pyro Archon further into a hypercarry role. It should be noted that Mavuika in Genshin Impact is still capable of dealing off-field Pyro Damage, but there is another aspect of the changes that could be seen as eye-catching.

Genshin Impact: Mavuika Changes (V3)

Elemental Skill

  • The Named Moment
    • Flamestrider Charged Attack Cyclic DMG: 195.5% (down from 271.6%)
    • Flamestrider Charged Attack Final DMG: 272.0% (down from 299.2%)

Ascension Passive

  • Gift of Flaming Flowers
    • When a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Mavuika’s ATK increases by 30% (down from 35%) for 10s.
  • Kiongozi
    • After using her Elemental Burst, Hour of Burning Skies, every point of Fighting Spirit present when it is used increases the DMG that the current active party member deals by 0.2% (down from 0.25%). The maximum increase obtainable this way is 40% (down from 50%), and this effect lasts 20s, decaying over this duration until it reaches 0.

Constellation

  • The Ashen Price
    • When in the Nightsoul’s Blessing State, Mavuika’s Base ATK is increased by 200, and she obtains the following effects based on All-Fire Armaments’ form:
      • Rings of Searing Radiance: Nearby opponents’ DEF decreased by 20%.
      • Flamestrider: Mavuika’s Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, and her Sunfell Slice from the Elemental Burst, Hour of Burning Skies, deal 60% (down from 80%), 90% (down from 130%), and 120% (down from 180%) of her ATK as increased DMG respectively.
  • The Leader’s Resolve
    • Enhances the effects of the Passive Talent “Kiongozi”:
      • The DMG increase gained after using the Elemental Burst, Hour of Burning Skies, will not decay over time, and gains an additional 10% DMG increase (up from 0%).

While the changes apply a notable nerf to Mavuika’s second Ascension Passive, the shortcomings are restored in her fourth Constellation. This means that Genshin Impact players are expected to pull several copies of the Pyro Archon to enjoy Mavuika’s original bonuses as a Support. Though the power level of Mavuika is now comparable to Arlecchino in Genshin Impact, her Constellations can arguably be seen as a worrisome trend that began in Fontaine.

Whereas Fontaine-era characters such as Wriothesley or Chiori become complete at C1, Mavuika (and Citlali) are almost encouraged to be at C4, a goal that the vast majority of players would struggle to meet. That being said, Version 5.3 is expected to go through two more builds before its release version, which should give the Genshin Impact community plenty of time to provide feedback. Both Mavuika and Citlali in Genshin Impact are expected to feature on the Event Banners for the full duration of the patch, which is set to launch on January 1, 2025.
