Final Fantasy 14 Mobile seems to have already experienced a leak, as many alleged screenshots are appearing online. As fans wait to learn more about Final Fantasy 14 Mobile, these images offer a glimpse of what the game could be like.

Square Enix surprised gamers when it revealed that Final Fantasy 14 would be getting a mobile version coming to phones. The game is largely designed to capture the mobile gaming market and is being developed by Tencent.

Now, screenshots from the Final Fantasy 14 Mobile playtest seem to be surfacing online. The screenshots show a few different environments and player characters milling about in front of Momodi Modi in the Adventurer’s Guild of Ul’dah, parts of Thanalan, equipment screens, and the battle system. For the most part, while the graphics look a little less sharp and detailed than the PC and console versions of the game, the mobile version looks extremely similar to what players have come to expect of Final Fantasy 14.

Final Fantasy 14 Mobile Switches Up Battle UI

As one might expect, certain elements of the UI need to be changed in order to make the game work well on a small mobile screen. One of the biggest changes appears to be with the battle system, as instead of a large row of abilities and macros, job abilities and skills have been placed on a wheel. A center ring shows the icon of the job the player is on, while two circles surrounding it include the active skills and abilities players can trigger on their job. The same wheel is apparently also used for crafting jobs, with one screenshot showing the wheel for Weaver.

Of course, since these images are originating from a play test, everything seen in them is still subject to change. With that said, it seems the game is well on its way despite the fact that it doesn’t yet have a release date. Fans will have to wait and see what ends up happening with the title, but it seems that the Final Fantasy 14 Mobile version is likely to succeed, whereas the ill-fated Final Fantasy 11 mobile game never made it this far.

While players still seem cautious about Final Fantasy 14 Mobile, most of it seems to stem from concerns regarding microtransactions. FF14‘s game director has tried to reassure fans that Final Fantasy 14 Mobile won’t have gacha and that microtransactions won’t be overly aggressive, but time will tell if that turns out to be the case.
