Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 boasts its fair share of weapon charms, but the Time of Death charm has proven to be a huge source of frustration for Zombies players. Time of Death in Black Ops 6 has been causing game-breaking bugs after a certain point for players trying to rack up kills in Zombies, and there has yet to be a clear cause as to why exactly this is the case.
The Time of Death charm is a special item that players can attach to weapons. Its purpose is to count the number of kills one gets within a match, but once the charm gets past 1,000 kills, it tends to cause major performance issues that leave the game pretty much unplayable. The huge glitches caused by Time of Death have inspired players to share these issues online, warning others of the potential hazard one might have to deal with when using the charm in Zombies.

Black Ops 6’s Time of Death Weapon Charm Glitch Seems to Only Effect Zombies Players
Reported Issues Caused By the Time of Death Charm
- Massive frame rate drop
- Disappearance of HUD
Sometimes frame rate issues occur out of the blue in games. However, in Zombies, 1,000 kills with Time of Death drastically drops the FPS to an unplayable rate that turns the game’s fluidity into a glitchy, sluggish mess. Even worse, the HUD completely disappears, rendering players basically helpless as Zombies quickly approach. While there has yet to be an official reasoning given as to why this bug occurs, many players have concluded that Time of Death may not be programmed to count past 1,000 kills. In a multiplayer match, it’s pretty much impossible to rack up such a high kill count, but it’s quite doable when playing Zombies. Reddit user xRudeAwakening stated, “I absolutely cannot believe they missed this oversight” on a post discussing the issue.

Even more frustrating, the game goes back to normal if players switch to their secondary weapons. However, this doesn’t really fix the issue at all, as switching back to the primary weapon that is using the charm immediately throws the game back into a state of disarray. The tracker screen on the Time of Death charm itself even seems to black out, further giving weight to the theory that the charm simply wasn’t programmed to go past 1,000 kills. While bundles in Call of Duty games offer new items to players, it’s rare for them to feature such a game-breaking issue.
Zombies Players Should Hold Off on Using Time of Death Until Further Notice
So far, there have yet to be any official plans to fix the Time of Death charm. Until a patch is announced, players may be better off only using the charm for multiplayer matches and removing it in Zombies. This hasn’t been the first oversight in Black Ops 6 that players have had to deal with, which is unfortunate. While this has been one of the stronger Call of Duty installments in recent years, Black Ops 6 has faced plenty of issues since its October launch.

From major glitches in Nuketown to the controversy surrounding the price of specific bundles, Black Ops 6 has caused frustration with some portions of the fan base. Despite these issues, Black Ops 6 still manages to be a solid entry in the series. Of course, the Time of Death glitch is frustrating, especially when paying for a bundle’s items, but it at least is not necessary in order to enjoy matches. Whether one is playing the various multiplayer modes or gaining impressive kill streaks in Zombies, the Time of Death weapon charm is, unfortunately, an item many players may want to set aside for now.
