With one cheat you can turn the natural world on its head, while another sees the return of one of the most iconic AoE units that can only be spawned through chat-based skullduggery. Unit cheats
- big bad wolf – turns sheep into wolves
- this is fine – sets highlighted buildings on fire

How to use cheats in Age of Empires 4
As with previous Age of Empires games, cheating in AoE 4 is a simple case of opening up the chat menu in-game using the ‘Enter’ key, before inputting and sending your required cheat. Codes are case-sensitive, so make sure they’re typed in as shown in this guide.
Before this, though, you’re going to need to make sure cheats are enabled – be it in your Campaign, Skirmish, or Custom game. To do this in Campaign or Skirmish, launch into a game, open up the ‘Game Mode’ window, and check the ‘Cheats’ box. For Custom games, if you’re the session host you can simply check the ‘Cheats Allowed’ box in the ‘Game Setup’ tab before you begin the game.
As with the Age of Empires 2 cheats, turning cheats on in AoE 4 will prevent you from being able to earn any Achievements or masteries in your current session, so beware!
