New World: Aeternum’s Season 7 Update Marks a Big Item Off Players’ Wishlists
After three long years, one of New World: Aeternum’s most highly requested features is finally coming to the game in the Season 7 update.
New World: Aeternum’s Battle Royale Will Offer Big Battles, Even Bigger Rewards
Outside of Territory Wars and open-world PvP, there are currently two standalone PvP game modes in New World: Aeternum, the 3v3 arena and Outpost Rush (OPR). Between these two game modes, the 3v3 arena in New World: Aeternum is a fast-paced game mode, while OPR is a much bigger time commitment where matches often last around two to three times longer. Likely because of this disparity in the match length between these two game modes, OPR is generally far more rewarding compared to 3v3s.
While OPR offers more rewards like gold, faction reputation, and faction tokens than 3v3s, consistently winning rounds in 3v3s is considered the fastest way to specifically earn PvP-track XP.
Since battle royale game modes are generally long matches, players who make it to the finalist teams of this game mode in New World: Aeternum are sure to be rewarded handsomely. Even players who die early on in a battle royale match will still likely earn plenty of loot, assuming the minimum participation requirements are met.
In addition to a potential free-for-all structure, New World: Aeternum’s upcoming battle royale will likely support small team sizes so that it will be accessible to players regardless of their build archetype. For example, healers in New World: Aeternum are a vital part of any team composition, but a lone healer is naturally at a severe disadvantage when facing a DPS player in a duel. Consequently, an obvious way to level the playing field between healers, DPS, and tanks in New World: Aeternum is to support team play, while still offering a competitive alternative for solo players.
This activity will likely feature a minimum character level requirement to participate, but outside of this, the other requirements are currently unclear. Additionally, it remains to be seen whether players will be able to bring their existing armor, weapons, and consumables into battle royale matches or if gear will need to be scavenged throughout each match. If players can bring their existing gear, there will likely be PvP balancing similar to OPR and 3v3s, bringing players’ gear score up to a minimum threshold for players who haven’t reached the maximum gear score in New World: Aeternum.
To prepare for this upcoming game mode, it’s recommended that players reach maximum weapon proficiency for their preferred
weapon types in

. This way, players should have a foundation of combat abilities to rely on regardless of having their gear.
Because of the size and spectacle of this upcoming game mode, players can expect plenty of sweet, sweet loot from battle royale matches, especially for teams who manage to finish in first place. Overall, New World: Aeternum’s future updates have big plans to reshape the endgame PvP experience, and the new battle royale game mode will be one of many major features coming.
