Street Fighter 6 has grown over its first two years to become one of the most impressive and well-polished fighting games ever. The opening day meta can’t last forever though, and we’re starting to get more and more balancing changes in Street Fighter 6 patch notes. Including some important alterations to the game’s balance after major tournaments like SF 6 at EVO.
Capcom has included quite a few new quality-of-life changes with the recent update, most importantly to controls. What does it all mean for SF 6 players though? These are the changes we’ve seen in the most recent patch notes.
Suprise December Street Fighter 6 Patch Notes
Street Fighter 6 has so far had a pretty sparse update schedule. Not a lot of patches, with content added carefully, rather than quickly and then patched immediately. However, this week we’ve had a pretty unexpected balancing update in Street Fighter 6 patch notes. The update is now live but quite a bit has changed in the game.
The major alterations this time are the characters. While the patch isn’t supposed to be a major balance change, quite a few of the Street Fighter 6 characters have been altered. There’s been some bigger nerfs to Cammy. Ryu has been buffed too, which should help the character’s usage a bit.
A lot of the characters have had some smaller alterations which won’t massively affect how they play. Since the final Capcom Cup qualifiers are drawing to a close soon now, this patch will be played at some important events. Hopefully, these last-minute changes don’t cause too many problems for players.
Bison Street Fighter 6 Update
A big new Street Fighter 6 update is here! The headline addition is the next character to come to the title as a new DLC addition, M Bison. However, the game has had some other changes too.
While initially, Capcom was planning on a Street Fighter balance patch to just once per year, plans seem to have changed a bit. The Bison Street Fighter 6 patch notes also include some minor changes to how the SF 6 characters work. These are the new patch notes for the update:
Balance Changes
Balancing changes is a bit more complicated. We’ve had a few characters changed up quite a bit.
One of the biggest alterations in this patch is Zangief, who’s been hit with quite a few nerfs. Kimberly on the other hand has been buffed. Only a handful of other SF 6 characters have been mixed up too, like A.K.I, Akuma, and Ken.
SF 6 Akuma and Balancing Update
Maybe the biggest Street Fighter 6 patch notes of the year are here! The SF 6 Akuma patch has arrived. More than just adding a new character, this has also re-balanced our cast of characters in the first balance update.
What’s changed in the latest Street Fighter 6 patch notes? These are all of the differences in the current patch.
Akuma Added
One of the headline updates in this patch is the arrival of Akuma. The classic character is now available as a new fighter for this game. He’s going to be available for players who purchase the DLC, with 3 costumes, a fresh stage, plus the usual additions like World Tour and items.
A new fighter is definitely an exciting addition. With the entire cast getting balancing changes though, we’ll have to see how they sit with the game’s overall meta.
New Costumes, Avatar Items, and Music
As well as the new character, we’re getting fresh outfits for a handful of existing SF 6 fighters. There’s Ed, Aki, and Rashid all getting a new costume. There are also more songs coming from past SF games, and avatar items.
Other Improvements
In terms of gameplay changes, we’ve got a few extra additions here too. These are the main alterations outside of balancing:
- Training – New options in training mode to help fine-tune gameplay.
- Matches – Changes to walkouts and indicators
- Replays – Older replays won’t work going forward
- New Color Bundles
- Ranked Matchmaking Altered
- Casual Matchmaking – Try to avoid matching with the same players over and over
Balancing Changes
Now we get to the major part of this Street Fighter 6 update, the balancing changes. Sf 6 has been avoiding a major balancing patch for quite a while now. But since we’re safely between Capcom Pro Tour events, now is finally the time to rework some aspects.
It’s a huge change. If you’re someone who really drills down into frame data and exact hit boxes this is going to be a huge alteration to the game. The changes are too many to list specifically, but these are all of the exact changes Capcom has put out to detail how they’ve changed the game. Most Street Fighter 6 characters have seen pretty massive alterations, so you’ll need to jump in and see how your main is now playing.
Street Fighter 6 October Patch Notes
The big new change for the SF 6 patch notes this time has focused on a new addition, the option to turn on or off button release inputs. This is on the character select screen itself, so everyone will be aware of which option they’re using. The new change has even meant we need to see a change to the rules of the Capcom Pro Tour 2023. The rules have been altered to effect the new changes in the Street Fighter 6 patch notes.
The feature addresses a problem players have had with a negative edge. This is when your inputs are registered from the button being released rather than when you press them down. You can now toggle between the two ways of doing inputs. This change should help payers get greater consistency out of their inputs in-game.
The Capcom Pro Tour has had its rules updated to reflect the change. Players can use either on or off for this setting. There isn’t a specific one that pro players are limited to, which is good news for those who want a bit more freedom.
That’s the major change in the most recent Street Fighter 6 patch notes. We won’t be getting a full balance update for a little while still, but it’s fun to see QoL changes getting made to the game.
Street Fighter 6 Patch Notes – August 8 Patch
The Street Fighter 6 patch notes have been updated with a August 8th patch. This new update is coming with new changes and a fresh collaboration! This are the major changes in the August 8th patch notes.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Collab
The big part of the most recent update is the new collaboration. While just cosmetics, there’s some new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle items in the shop for players to buy. There are quite a few new items like Avatar items, stickers, emotes, photo frames, and wallpaper. Although, there isn’t a full fighter.
Battle Changes in August 8th Patch Notes
Alongside adding the new TMNT crossover, the recent patch has made some changes to how the characters handle.
- All Characters Assist Button Changes – This has been changed so safe throws aren’t possible anymore.
- Blanka – Hop changed to eliminate a bug, Crouching Heavy Punch starts a frame later, Rock Crusher fixed too.
- Kimberly – Emergency Stop bug fix
- Rashid – Anti-air attack changed to eliminate wall trap.
- Bug Fixes
Those are all of the other major changes in the patch notes this time. It isn’t quite as big as the patches coming to properly adjust every character. However, these changes should fix some of the problems with characters like Rashid for now.
Street Fighter 6 Patch Notes – July 24 Patch Notes
The second patch is here, the July 24 Street Fighter 6 patch notes. The patch is the first to bring in a full new character, along with adding other elements to the game.
Rashid Hits in July 24th Patch Notes
After a few weeks of build-up, Rashid has fully been added in! He’ll now be playable as the first expansion to the Street Fighter 6 characters. Rashid in Street Fighter 6 is a fun addition. Although, he’s had some changes they’ve made for some unique moves. He’ll also be available in Arcade Mode, and World Tour too. He’s not just a new character for online.
Mechanic Changes
One of the major alterations made to how the entire game plays is Drive Rush. While not a huge problem, these can’t be cancelled anymore! However, it isn’t a full balancing patch beyond this. This is a pretty big change and it’ll be interesting to see how it affects gameplay.
New Items
The other big feature in the game’s Street Fighter 6 patch notes are items in the goods shop. While we get a new character, there’s also a few new items that have been added in to the shop.
- Rashid
- Outfit 2 for Rashid
- Rashid Colors 3-10
- Avatar Gear – Pirate Captain, Resort-Style, and Breazy
- Resort-Style Bundles.
- Fighting Ground Changes
- A few alterations have been made to the fighting
- ground.
- Rashid’s Story added
- Can now switch between record and playback directly in the pause menu.
- Master League coming on August 1st.
World Tour
World Tour mode maybe isn’t the biggest draw to players in the game anymore, but there’s some new content if you want to jump back in and see more of the world of Street Fighter.
- Rashid’s Master Missions
- News Missions added after the main game is completed
- New comic cutscenes
Outside of those changes, the big alterations are mainly bug fixes. We’ve recently learnt quite a bit more when we’re getting these updates. Street Fighter 6 patch notes like this that largely just add in new content are probably going to be the bulk of the patch notes for a while! The SF 6 update schedule is apparently only making balance alterations once a year or so.
Street Fighter 6 Patch Notes – July 5 Patch Notes
It’s focused on technical issues and other additions, like adding more content. This isn’t a balance patch just yet though, surprisingly. Capcom is choosing to keep the game in pretty much the same state. However, there is one important change, tellingly Capcom is classing this as a bug fix rather than a competitive change! The title is already pretty well-balanced, even for one of the best fighting games, Although, these patch notes have made some alterations though.
This is what’s been changed in the very first Street Fighter 6 patch notes.
Rashid Arrives!
A new fighters pass has started! These are smaller batches of content, not including new characters or additions to the Street Fighter 6 roster. It’ll give a bit more content for the truly devoted players to get through though.
Clubs
A new club recruitment campaign has started! If you’re loving the club system so far then this will keep you busy for the next few weeks.
Server Improvements
The Battle net servers have had some changes. This should help to reduce strain on them. So far, the online experience for Street Fighter 6 has been pretty smooth, but it’s always nice to see improvements are still coming.
Throw Bug Fix
More recently with Street Fighter 6, players found a new tech, or at least that’s what some were calling it. This was built around throw escapes. Capcom addressed the issue and promised were coming, and they’ve arrived with the first Street Fighter 6 patch notes.
Capcom has patched the “tech” to remove it. It was apparently a bug. They’ve made changes to stop players from intentionally recreating a bug in the game. This is a relief with some major tournaments on the horizon now. Although, it’s been patched now the bug is so widely known!
That’s what’s in the first round of Street Fighter 6 patch notes. This patch may have been largely focused on fixing the throw tech/bug. However, we’re sure to start getting full patch notes soon. Hopefully, before the Capcom Cup 2023 gets into full swing we start to see some balancing adjustments made. While the game is fairly well balanced, the more powerful characters could do with some fixes.
