Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a brand-new Disney+ series with a concept that is unusual for Star Wars: a group of kids being front and center of the show. With Jude Law heading up the cast, it promises to explore elements of the galaxy that have been relatively untouched so far. It chronicles the adventures of four youngsters who find themselves tangled up in events outside their control, and will add to the ever-growing tapestry of Star Wars lore.
Game Rant recently caught up with Ravi Cabot-Conyers, who plays Wim, to discuss Skeleton Crew in more detail. He explained exactly where it fits in the overall timeline, and just how exciting the concept of the show is. Blending humor, action, and adventure in a way that Star Wars fans are so used to, Conyers is hoping Skeleton Crew will be well-received by fans.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s Ravi Cabot-Conyers Talks About the Show’s Concept
Star Wars has always been aimed at a fairly broad demographic and has often managed to strike the right balance between appealing to older and younger audiences in equal measure. However, aside from Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, a Disney+ animated show that was released last year, Skeleton Crew represents the first time that a group of youngsters are the focal point of the story. Conyers explained what a refreshing concept this is:
“It’s fascinating because children leading a
Star Wars
series is a very new and different concept. We haven’t seen it too much. I feel like children bring a certain wide-eyed wonder, along with their perspective, to the
Star Wars
galaxy, which is exciting.I’m so excited to carry on this legacy. It’s still surreal to this day, it didn’t feel real until I first got onto the set. Everyone’s so lovely. It was so fun to work with them on this, to carry on the
Star Wars
legacy, and to really play into the 80s-style movies.”
Where Skeleton Crew Fits in the Star Wars Timeline
With each new TV show and movie, Star Wars‘ mythology deepens. For fans who have been unable to keep up with every new addition, it can be a little confusing trying to piece together where everything fits into the overall Star Wars chronology. The timeline spans hundreds of years and incorporates every piece of medium that is considered canon, including the likes of comic books, short stories, and video games. Conyers explained that in terms of where Skeleton Crew fits, it’s in line with a couple of other recent shows:
“It’s around the same period as
The Mandalorian
and
Ahsoka
but, based on the environment, it’s really unique. It’s the suburbs, which is really different for
Star Wars
.It’s exciting though! I thought it was cool that we got to create that sort of environment for the first time in
Star Wars
. But, I feel like it would be so cool if we got to see Ahsoka, the Mandalorian, or Grogu in
Skeleton Crew
!”
This means the show takes place after Return of the Jedi, at a time when the galaxy is rid of the threat of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader thanks to the Jedi Luke Skywalker. “I feel like he really resonated with me,” Conyers said of Skywalker. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew promises plenty for fans to sink their teeth into when it begins streaming.
