Monster Hunter Wilds is already shaping up to be one of the biggest games of 2025. Capcom already took the series to a new high with 2018’s Monster Hunter World, and if the open beta test of Wilds is anything to go by, 2025 may also be a massive year for the developer. While fans were thrilled with the open beta, there were a few series staples that were missing.

Monster Hunter Wilds Is Going To Be The Biggest Game Of 2025
Capcom’s blockbuster is already attracted hundreds of thousands of people. And that’s just the open beta…
The biggest of these is the hitstop feature, which freezes a frame or two whenever you land a big hit on a monster. It gives you a very satisfying feeling that actually feels like you’ve connected perfectly. This relatively minor feature was missed by fans, who were disappointed to find it missing. However, it seems that hitstop will make it to the game at launch.
Hitstop Will Be More Prevalent In Monster Hunter Wilds When It Launches
We got a chance to sit down with Monster Hunter Wilds director Yuya Tokuda and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and asked them about how things will change from the open beta build to the final build of Monster Hunter Wilds and, more importantly, if hitstop will be a part of the game at launch.
“When we had the most recent OBT [open beta test], we received a lot of feedback and the development team is obviously aware of that,” said Tsujimoto. “Within the OBT sentiments, there were some things that we felt we really needed to adjust for the final product version. There were some things that are planned to be implemented but obviously didn’t make it into the OBT.”
He explained that while the dev team hoped to learn from the community from the open beta test, they already expected feedback on certain parts of the game. While this was only a beta test, Capcom has plans to showcase the final product as it will be at launch.
Perhaps anticipating a follow-up about hitstop in particular. Tokuda jumped in to say that the devs have already discussed some of the changes that will come to the game as a result of the open beta test.
“We discussed it with the regional community managers and aligned our thoughts,” he revealed. “Some of the things we want to address for the final product is the hitstop. Many users felt that it was weakened compared to previous titles. For the final product version we plan on making the hitstop a lot stronger, especially for the finishing moves for the weapons.”
So there you have it. Your requests have been heard – Monster Hunter Wilds’ hitstop will be way more evident in the final build of the game. So get ready for some heavy-hitting swings.
