Marvel Rivals is just days away from its December 6 launch now, and we’re getting a better look at the new characters joining the roster. However, one inclusion has fans worried, to the point where they’re already calling for nerfs.
Gameplay footage of Black Widow appears to show the character one-shotting opponents – something that is drawing unfavourable comparisons to Widowmaker from Overwatch. In fact, fans are so worried that a community manager is already coming out to ease concerns, saying that Black Widow is “quite balanced”.
Marvel Rivals Fans Are Scared That Black Widow Is The Next Widowmaker
As you can see in the new gameplay footage, it does look like Black Widow is getting a bunch of one-shots whenever she lands a headshot. However, it’s possible the opponents had already lost health, and she was just getting the killing blow.
This would line up with what a community manager said over on the Discord, as spotted by Marvel Rivals Bulletin. Here, a fan asked if Black Widow can one-shot, and the community manager responded: “Not quite, I would say she is quite balanced, and its actually much harder to play sniper in Marvels, theres a lot of movement [sic]”
It isn’t exactly clear what this means. It’s very possible that Black Widow can one shot – it will just be harder to land because of how movement in Marvel Rivals works in comparison to Overwatch. Or, maybe she was only killing enemies that were low-health already. Either way, fans really don’t want another Widowmaker situation on their hands, especially since the beta didn’t have any characters who could one-shot.
Marvel Rivals launched on December 6. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
