Prior to transmog in World of Warcraft, there weren’t many ways for players to express themselves in terms of customization. Even with mounts, there weren’t a whole lot of options for players to choose from, so you’d see players all riding the same set of mounts in cities excluding those who had been lucky enough to get a rare mount like the Swift Zulian Tiger or even the Black Qiraji Battle Tank.
Expansions like The Burning Crusade added a great deal more variety into the game in all aspects, and that was especially true for ground mounts and the newly introduced flying mounts. As Druids worked on their quest to get their epic flying, they also unlocked the ability to summon a boss that had a chance of dropping a unique mount known as the Raven Lord. Here is how you can obtain the Reins of the Raven Lord.

How to Get the Reins of the Raven Lord in World of Warcraft
The Raven Lord is a rare drop from Sethekk Halls, a dungeon located in Terrokar Forest in Outland. The dungeon itself is located in the ruins of Auchindoun on the southern part of the map. There are three other dungeons entrances in the same area: Mana-Tombs, Shadow Labyrinth, and Aucheani Crypts.
The Reins of the Raven Lord has a small chance (less than two percent) of dropping from Anzu, the second boss of Sethekk Halls. Anzu only spawns on Heroic difficulty, so make sure you have the dungeon set to Heroic before going in. Since Sethekk Halls is an old dungeon, a Level 50 or higher character will have no issue soloing it.
Anzu was originally a boss that could only be summoned by a Druid who was on the last part of their epic flight quest, but as of Cataclysm in 2010, that is no longer the case. As long as Sethekk Hall is set to Heroic difficulty, you will see Anzu in a chamber beyond the first boss.
Unlike Raids, Heroic Dungeons reset daily
rather than weekly
. So you can easily park a couple of characters outside Sethekk Halls and farm Anzu several times per day if you so choose. Since it is a low drop rate, it could take some time for you to see this mount drop.
Beyond getting lucky with the drop, you can also potentially get the Raven Lord mount from the Black Market Auction House. Rare mounts are often seen sold there, and they also are on the loot table for Unclaimed Black Market Containers. This method is only recommended if you happen to have a lot of gold, since the Black Market Auction House can be a significant gold sink for anything rare.
