Free World of Warcraft helm takes just 15 minutes to get, but it’s region-locked

Who doesn’t love an in-game freebie? A new skin here, an XP boost there, a complimentary character unlock every now and again – no matter what game you play, the universal language of ‘free stuff’ will always make you happy. That is, unless you’re not eligible for said free stuff. In World of Warcraft right now, a new promotion lets you perform the easiest of tasks in exchange for a pretty cool free helm – however, likely due to its crossover with a well-known brand, it’s unfortunately region-locked.

Now, I know in the grand scheme of WoW’s 20-year history, missing out on one helm isn’t going to turn your MMO world upside down. However, it’ll no doubt cause some irritation if you’re not eligible to earn this striking free cosmetic item – especially due to the simple nature of its requirements.

In a collaboration with World of Warcraft and Mountain Dew, a brand new Discord Quest has gone live that will reward you with the Crown of the Violet Rose helm. To get it, all you have to do is stream World of Warcraft to a friend on Discord for just 15 minutes. This can be done in any server, group chat, or direct message with another account. Once you’ve done that, a redemption code will be waiting for you in the Quest Home in Discord, and all you’ve got to do is plug that code into your Battlenet profile, and the Crown of the Violet Rose is all yours.

Super easy, right? The catch, however, is that only those in the US are eligible to take part in this Quest. While region-locked promotional items and crossovers with brands are hardly a new thing, there are still naturally some disappointed players online. However, if you are in the US, here’s a great extra piece of gear that can be all yours without barely needing to raise a finger.

The World of Warcraft Discord Quest for the Crown of the Violet Rose is live right now and ends on Monday, December 9. Also note that once you’ve completed the Quest, you’ll need to have claimed and redeemed your Battlenet code by Friday, January 31, 2025. After that date, it’ll expire, so don’t forget!
