Fortnite Chapter 6 has begun, and less than a week in we’re getting our first tournaments. One of the earliest will be the Fortnite PlayStation Cup. A regular series of console events that takes place around the PlayStation system for some reason. It might be played on console, but PlayStation can now run Fortnite at 120 FPS, so we’re still expecting some tough competition here.
This event is going to be a nice look at how Chapter 6 is handling competitively. Since it’s being played weekly it’s a regular chance for players to get earnings too. While console cups aren’t really the focus for things like Fortnite betting, they’re a great chance to get involved with competitive Fortnite. How will the event work and how can you take part in the Fortnite PlayStation Cup?
Fortnite PlayStation Cup
The Fortnite PlayStation Cup is a tournament format we’ve seen a few times before. It’s returning for Fortnite Chapter 6. This event is one of a few with a cash prize now Epic has re-organized them. However, there are plenty of reasons to get involved. It’s only open to those on PlayStation. However, other than that it’s close enough to a normal cash cup. This is how the rules and everything works:
It’s divided into two different sessions. The first is a qualifier, that runs for three hours. In this time, you can play in ten different matches. You get points for performance, with the top players moving on to the second round. That’s the finals.
The finals are played over one session, where you can play up to six matches in three hours. The best Fortnite players in the Finals will each walk away with a share of their prize. Only the top 100 players in each region head on to these finals, so that second session is going to be a tough one.
Scoring
That’s the rough format but how can you earn points to climb the leaderboard. As with most Fortnite esports tournaments, it comes down to placement and kills. This is how the scoring breaks down or this event:
- 1st – 60 Points
- 2nd – 53
- 3rd – 49
- 4th – 47
- 5-50th – One less point for each placement, down to 1 for 50th
- Eliminations – 2 Points each
With these scores, placement is particularly important. Let’s hope players have mastered the new map and Chapter 6 weapons in time for the PlayStation Cup

Who Can Take Part in Fortnite PlayStation Cup?
There are a few limitations on how you can take part. You can’t get involved unless you have Fortnite MFA or 2FA turned on. These are basic security rules, necessary for taking part in quite a few parts of Fortnite.
That’s how the whole thing is going to work. The PlayStation Cup in Fortnite is a welcome format amidst the early start for the FNCS and other heavier events. Hopefully, this is a chance for some rising players to show their skills.
