Every Leak About Genshin Impact's 5.5 Dragon Character So Far

As Natlan continues to grow, Genshin Impact still has a lot of content to share that will further the Traveler’s story in the region. This includes new areas and characters, like a rumored dragon character that’s said to come out in Genshin Impact Version 5.5.

The Pyro region is teeming with dragons called Saurians, which come in different forms. One of the most popular Saurians in Genshin Impact are the Tepetlisauruses, which are common enemies and also live alongside the Nanatzcayan people in eastern Natlan. Based on a recent leak, Genshin Impact might introduce a new dragon that could play an important role in the ongoing Natlan story.

What is Known About Genshin Impact’s Rumored New Dragon Character

Genshin Impact Leaks New Local Legends and Mobs

According to datamined information from prominent leaker HomDGCat, there’s allegedly going to be a Genshin Impact NPC known as “Big Dragon” that might debut in Version 5.5. Not much was revealed about the rumored NPC, but there are speculations that Big Dragon might be connected to the Great Volcano of Tollan, which is located in the southwest part of Natlan and is also rumored to become accessible in Genshin Impact Version 5.5.

Another running theory is that the Big Dragon could be related to Xiuhcoatl, also known as the Flamelord, who was one of the Seven Sovereigns that ruled over Natlan. According to Natlan’s legends, Xiuhcoatl annihilated parts of Old Natlan, and Xbalanque, who had not yet become the first Pyro Archon at the time, fought and killed the dragon at the Great Volcano of Tollan. To this day, many citizens of Natlan still believe that Xiuhcoatl still resides in the volcano and is in deep hibernation, while others think that the dragon’s body is already an empty husk.

Certain Saurians in Natlan are born with a unique mark called the “Flamelord’s Blessing,” which grants them the power of ancient dragons like Xiuhcoatl. Some believe that
Tyrants like Goldflame Qucusaur
might have this mark.

Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, there have been rumors that Genshin Impact might release Xiucoahtl as a weekly Trounce Domain boss starting Version 5.3. If the information is reliable, it would be interesting to see how the game would introduce the alleged reanimated corpse of the fallen Pyro dragon and the role it could play in Traveler’s adventure in Natlan.

Genshin Impact’s Big Dragon Might Not Be From Natlan

Beyond Natlan, dragons aren’t uncommon in Genshin Impact as they used to be the dominant species living in Teyvat. The Seven Sovereigns are especially important as they are elemental dragons that ruled the old world and wielded the powers of the seven elements. While many believe that dragons are already dead, there are still a good number of powerful beings alive in different regions, like Neuvillette in Fontaine, Dvalin in Monstadt, and so many more.

Durin from Monstadt’s Dragonspine, in particular, is interesting because Genshin Impact heavily foreshadowed the dragon’s resurrection back in Version 4.8. There were also rumors that the game was allegedly planning a Flagship Event for Version 5.2 that’s set in Dragonspine featuring Albedo and Wanderer, which was believed to have been scrapped. But if HoYoverse simply shelved the event to be released in a future update, it’s possible that Big Dragon might be Durin, and that the Traveler might face off against the powerful dragon sometime soon.

Although Genshin Impact fans should take leaks with a grain of salt for now, it is admittedly exciting to see the game put more focus on dragons, especially in the Natlan arc. It shows that HoYoverse is giving them the spotlight as part of Genshin Impact‘s extensive lore and world-building.
