A strong melee weapon is the foundation of your damage on most classes that rely heavily on their basic attack or other physical attack skills in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. While the right personality or some Seeds of Strength can give you a very high strength stat, you’ll still need a good weapon to use it all on.
While just about every town in the game has a weapon shop with a wide selection, there are just as many weapons to be found throughout the world. The Steel Broadsword is a powerful early-game weapon that can be purchased, but can also be found for free if you know where to look.

After getting your ship in Dragon Quest 3 Remake you’ll have to collect various orbs throughout the world; here’s where to go first.
Where To Find The Steel Broadsword In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
The Steel Broadsword is found in the far northwestern section of the map in the Underground Lake. You can walk here after reaching Romira and will pass through the town of Norvik on the way. It’s not required to get the Broadsword, but traveling through the Underground Lake will also lead you to the Dreamstone which is needed to wake the town of Norvik.
- Inside the Underground Lake, head to the very bottom left staircase that leads you to B2.
- Head to the next far left staircase leading to B3.
- Next, Take the staircase that appears along the top section of the map leading to B4.
- Walk to the edge of this section of the cave to find a chest with the Steel Broadsword inside.
Depending on your level, using a Holy Water will help you greatly lower the random encounter rate while in this dungeon and shorten your trip by a lot if the XP from the monsters within isn’t worthwhile. Back on B3, you can take the southernmost staircase to get the Dreamstone to make your trip through the Underground Lake even more worthwhile. With the Steel Broadsword and Dreamstone in hand, use Zoom or Evac to immediately exit the cave.

Best Classes For The Steel Broadsword In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
The Steel Broadsword has an Attack stat of 32 and should be equipped on the party member with the highest Strength. Ideally, it would be used by either the Hero or a Warrior if you have one in your party. While this weapon can be held by a spell caster like a Mage or Priest, they should almost never rely on using a basic attack and wouldn’t use this powerful early-game weapon to its fullest potential.
