Skeleton Crew's Ravi Cabot-Conyers on Working With Jude Law

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is the latest in an ever-growing library of Disney+ Star Wars shows. Following the adventures of four youngsters whose somewhat normal lives are thrown into turmoil when they get lost in the galaxy, the show looks to be aimed at a younger audience compared to other shows like Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi. That being said, it still adds some new and interesting mysterious elements to the Star Wars universe, not least of which is the character of Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law.

In a recent interview, Game Rant caught up with Law’s co-star, Ravi-Cabot Conyers, who plays Wim. He talked about what it was like to work with the veteran actor on a daily basis, and what he learned from the experience. Conyers also discussed the host of new skills he learned while on the Star Wars set, and how cool it was to see all the cast and crew’s hard work come together with the end product.

Star Wars movies from the 70s borrowed from serials from the 30s and 40s, so it makes sense that the 80s and 90s would inform the franchise today.

The ambiguity surrounding Law’s character before Star Wars: Skeleton Crew‘s launch has undoubtedly added an extra layer of mystery to the show. Some think that the force user may be aligned with the Sith, but fans will need to watch events play out in order to uncover the character’s true intentions. Conyers talked about Law’s presence on set, and how influential he was during filming:

“He kept me very grounded. I feel like he was very helpful to everyone collectively and kept everyone grounded and focused, ready for the circumstances of the next scene and what it might bring. Being with him almost every day was so much fun because every day he’d surprise us. He kept raising the bar higher and higher.

I feel like I have developed so many skills as an actor, not only just from being on that for seven months and being with my character for seven months straight, but also from being around Jude Law and acting with him on a daily basis. He’s so fantastic. It was awesome.”

Cabot-Conyers Has Set Himself Some Ambitious Future Goals After Skeleton Crew

Conyers clearly benefited from the experienced actor’s presence on set, and the youngster explained that this wasn’t his only source of inspiration while filming continued. He also managed to spend some time with the show’s crew, learning about how each component of Skeleton Crew was put together before seeing the results for himself. Conyers continued:

“I got invited to the editing suite too, watching the directors and editors. It was so cool watching the directors work with the editors and see how it gets done, then comparing that to what I’ve just watched recently, the finished product.

It’s so amazing. It was so much hard work, and I hope that people will really recognize that. Of course, it was also so much fun, we had to leave some room for fun, too!”

Conyers is hoping to put these new skills to good use as his future plans include writing, directing, editing, and producing his own movie, an idea that was pitched to him by his friend Jon Favreau. The youngster, whose previous roles include Antonio in Encanto, has a bright future ahead of him, and he will be hoping that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew kicks off the next stage of his career in style.
