The PS5 Pro isn’t for everyone, and that’s oK.

Just two days into the new month, one analyst has shared their findings, noting that the PS5 significantly outsold its competitors in November, with the Nintendo Switch, eight years into its life cycle, outselling Xbox’s console offerings.

Over on the Install Base Forums, analyst Welfare shared their findings, specifically focused on Amazon sales in the month of November.

They suggest that the PS5, buoyed by the launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro, sold around 153,000 units last month, an increase of around 25 percent from November 2023’s estimation of 122,000 units. Welfare suggests that Sony sold somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 PS5 Pro consoles on Amazon, with around 90,000 PS5 Slims making up the bulk of the sales.

With Switch 2 news seemingly imminent, sales of Nintendo’s eight-year-old console dropped significantly from 143,000 in November 2023 to 56,000 this year. But, despite a sharp decline, the Nintendo Switch still managed to outsell the Xbox, which Welfare estimates sold around 32,000 units in November 2024.

Despite a sharp decline, the Nintendo Switch still managed to outsell the Xbox.

It’s likely to be worrying but wholly unsurprising news for Microsoft, with the Xbox struggling against its competitors over the last few years. Despite an incredibly successful Call of Duty launch this year, which was helped by Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, the company has faced hundreds of layoffs in its gaming departments over the past two years. Microsoft did, however, defiantly confirm it isn’t getting out of the console game any time soon.

Nintendo, on the other hand, will likely be delighted with the sales. Given that 2024 has been a notably quiet year with no major tent-pole releases, continuing to sell so many units is a boon. Whether the console will beat Sony’s revised 160 million PS2 sales to become the best-selling console of all time, however, remains to be seen.

Sony, whose latest console sales are outpacing the PS4, is the biggest winner of Black Friday, selling almost three times as many consoles as its closest competitor. Like Nintendo, the console had limited first-party releases this year, making its year-on-year growth doubly impressive. The company is seemingly making big moves, too, with plans to buy Elden Ring parent company, Kadokawa, and rumors that it is making a new handheld console for the first time since 2011’s PlayStation Vita.
