A feature that was added to the Assassin’s Creed series through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the ability to change the look of items without changing how they function, aka transmogrification. This feature is nice for those who dream of being both a formidable and nice-looking warrior. Transmog makes those dreams possible.

15 Crucial Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Tips for Beginners
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an incredibly vast game, and it can frankly be a lot for beginners to acclimate to. These tips should get you oriented.
However, it doesn’t make them possible right from the start of the game. You have to unlock the transmog mechanic first. Even once you do, though, it isn’t clear how you access it. So, here is a guide that answers both of those pressing questions.
How To Unlock Transmog In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
The game doesn’t actually call the feature ‘transmog’ in-game. It’s actually called visual customization, and you unlock it once you reach level eight.
However, there is a bit of debate surrounding this, as some people have claimed that they’ve unlocked it in different ways. The people at Ubisoft, though, have claimed you unlock it for reaching level eight.
How To Access Visual Customization In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Once you’ve unlocked the feature, you can access it from the inventory menu. Simply hover over a piece of gear, then hit the button that has an eye Icon next to it. This takes you to the visual customization menu, where you can select what you want the item to look like.
You won’t have all the options immediately available, as you can only change the look to something you’ve already acquired. For example, if you’ve picked up the Pilos Helmet at some point, you will be able to make any bit of headgear look like the Pilos Helmet. The other options that you don’t have unlocked will be greyed out.
Here are all the things you can change the look of:
- Swords
- Daggers
- Heavy Blunt Weapons
- Heavy Bladed Weapons
- Staffs
- Spears
- Bows
- Headwear
- Armwear
- Torso Armor
- Skirts
- Legwear
You can only make them look like things in the same category, meaning you can’t make a sword look like a mace.
