Dead Island 2: 13 Things To Do After Beating The Story Quests (Post-Game Content)
After beating Dead Island 2 main story quests, players can take on these interesting missions.
Well, to gain access to these Cards, you’ll need to get to the end of the 21st Story Quest, The Search for Truth. Not to spoil too much, but at the end, your character learns the truth of the Zompocalypse and goes through a metamorphosis of sorts. But, once the first Card is unlocked, where are you supposed to get the rest?
Updated November 30th, 2024 by Jacob Buchalter: Despite all the content added to Dead Island 2 across the two DLC campaigns, the additional DLC addons, and more, Numen Skills and Numen Cards have been left pretty much untouched. For the most part, you’ll still need to reach a certain point in the story to unlock these cards, and their effects can have a massive impact on your overall build and character, so it’s important to know what they do, where to find them, and how they stack up against each other. With that in mind, let’s take a deeper look at all the Numen Cards in Dead Island 2 and talk about them in full.
What Are Numen Skills?
The Fourth & Final Tier of Collectible Cards
Let’s take a quick step back before elaborating on how to find more of these Cards by going over what exactly Numen Skills are. There’s no consistent ‘theme’ among them in terms of what they do, but all of them are Skills that massively modify certain mechanics of Dead Island 2.
For example, Corpse Blossom makes it infinitely more fun to use Elemental Damage, Glass Cannon is great for characters like Bruno, and
Born Survivor makes it almost impossible to die as long as you play your cards right.
After getting their first Numen Skill at the end of The Search for Truth, you’ll find the others as rewards for other Quests, with only one of them being found in a specific spot out in the world. That said, the first Numen Skill you start with after their brief conversation with Lola Konradt at the end of this Story Quest changes based on the Slayer you’re using, which is one of the rare few mechanical differences between the Slayers:
Survivor Name |
Starting Numen Skill |
---|---|
Jacob |
Anger Mismanagement |
Danny |
Anger Mismanagement |
Carla |
Born Survivor |
Ryan |
Born Survivor |
Amy |
Glass Cannon |
Bruno |
Glass Cannon |
The default Numen Skills (not including Corpse Blossom or Seismic Stomp) are split evenly across the 6 Slayers in the game, with every pair of two characters starting with something different. Now some might be asking ‘Well if I play Amy, what would I get for a reward at the end of the Quest that would normally give Glass Cannon?’
To elaborate a bit more, Dani starts with Anger Mismanagement, but Amy doesn’t. So while Dani would get the Glass Cannon Card as a reward from the Side Quest The Art of War, Amy would get Anger Mismanagement. Basically, whatever Numen your character starts with, just assume they’ll get Anger Mismanagement where they would typically get their default Numen Skill.
Where To Unlock The Rest
Usually Rewarded as Rewards For Main Story Quests
As for the rest of the Numen Skills, they’re all unlocked either very close to the end of the Main Story or in the Side Quests that only become available after completing the story. Here’s where to find each one:
Numen Card |
Location |
Effect |
---|---|---|
Anger Mismanagement |
After defeating Noah and getting healed by Konradt in The Search for Truth. |
You can stay in Fury Mode even after your Fury runs out, but you’ll start constantly draining Health instead of Fury until you reach a certain point. |
Born Survivor |
Rewarded for completing the Side Quest Beacon of Hope. |
When you’re about to die, you’ll instead trigger a powerful explosion around you that drains 25 percent of your Fury and pushes nearby enemies back. Then, for the next 5 seconds, you can’t drop below 1 HP and any attacks you land on enemies will have lifesteal. |
Corpse Blossom |
Rewarded for finishing the final Story Quest, The End of the Line. |
Any zombies that are killed by elemental damage (AKA Fire, Shock, or Caustic) will explode on death with an explosion of the same element type. |
Glass Cannon |
Rewarded for completing the Side Quest The Art of War. |
You get an innate 25 percent boost to Critical Damage. And, whenever you’re under 50 percent HP, you’ll get an even bigger boost to Critical Damage. However, your overall Toughness is reduced by 50 percent overall with this Numen Card in effect. |
Seismic Stomp |
Found in the Metro, in this small alcove through an individual subway car in the corner of a tunnel about 2/3rds of the way towards the Metro Courtyard area leading to Hollywood Boulevard. |
With this active, Skull Stomp now triggers a forceful explosion on contract that drains the stability of any nearby zombies and also inflicts them with Bleed. |
It’s funny, despite the fact that there are 10+ cards that are added to Dead Rising 2 across its two DLC additions (SoLA and Haus), there are no new Numen Cards added in either of these. Instead, a whole host of Ability Cards, Slayer Cards, and Survivor Cards are added that give you new options and abilities while you’re traversing the DLC. So, if you’re wondering if there are any Numen Cards you might be missing or don’t have access to without the DLC campaigns, don’t worry, you can obtain all of them in the base game.
