Priests are one of the most common Vocations in the Dragon Quest series. They are the White Mages in Final Fantasy or just the healer types in other RPGs. They can restore HP, cure status ailments, and do a little damage on the side to help the party out.

6 Beginner Tips For Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
There are a ton of new and old gameplay features in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Here’s what new players need to know when starting their adventure.
They are not defenseless in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake by any measure. Compared to Mages, another Vocation in the game, Priests actually have more Defense but are weaker magically with their Wisdom levels. They will learn spells at certain levels, so let’s go through which ones are worth using the most.
7 Kamikazee
Sacrifice Your Life To Damage Enemies
Kamikazee is a move players should use as a last-ditch effort. It will explode the user but in retaliation, it should destroy or do a hefty amount of damage to all enemies. It’s an explosive move like Bombs in Final Fantasy or Voltorbs in Pokemon. It’s a good move to keep in reserve but it probably won’t be something players should or will use often in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Just in case, having a revival item or spell on hand is a good idea to bring the Priest back from the dead while exploring a dungeon.
6 Magic Barrier
Boost Party’s Defense
Priests excel in restorative and protective measures above all other Vocations. Magic Barrier is a good example as it will create a wall to protect the party against magic attacks in the game. There are a lot of later bosses in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, like Baramos, who use magi heavily which is a good time to use Magic Barrier.

This secret Vocation is worth unlocking.
Another good priestly buff to plant on the party is Acceleratle. This will boost the speed of the party, allowing them to act before enemies in theory.
5 Kasap
Lower Enemy’s Defense
Kasap is the opposite side of Magic Barrier and Acceleratle. It’s a debuff attack that will lower a group of enemy’s defenses. It’s a good move to use if the party has a lot of physical attackers in it like the Warrior or the Martial Artist. A lower defense means the party’s attacks will hit harder. Another good debuff attack is Fizzle which will block enemies from using magic. It’s harder to make Fizzle stick to enemies compared to Kasap, which is why Kasap is universally a better move throughout the Dragon Quest series.
4 Cock-A-Doodle-Doo
Wake Up The Party
Cock-a-Doodle-Doo is a healing spell that can wake up any party members affected by sleep. This is the only spell that can cure status ailments for the whole party. Every other example, while important, only works on a single party member. For example, Squelch can cure poison, Tingle gets rid of paralysis, Sheen removes a curse, and Defizzle allows party members to use magic again. These are all important spells in the Priest’s repertoire and come in handy when items are not enough in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
3 Kaswoosh
Attack A Group Of Enemies With Wind Magic
Priests are defensive magic users but they do have a few offensive spells that can damage enemies. They have the power of wind and even Mages can’t do anything with that element. Kaswoosh is the ultimate version of this wind power and it will create a swarm of tornados to attack a line of enemies. Priest can’t do a lot of damage with it unless players increase their Wisdom in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake through accessories but it’s still nice to have an offensive spell like this. It gets stronger if a Priest multiclasses as a Mage or a Sage afterward.
2 Multiheal
Restore HP For The Party
Multiheal is a good spell to use to keep the party healthy. It will heal the party for around 70 HP but this could increase or decrease depending on the Priest’s Wisdom levels. It’s tied for the best healing spell as Fullheal is also great and can fully restore HP to any one party member.

The Biggest Changes In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
It’s been a long port-heavy road since 1988.
The Hero Vocation in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has a better healing spell that combines these two into one called Omniheal. Weirdly, a Priest cannot learn Omniheal, but it’s also kind of cool to give the main character a good healing spell.
1 Kazing
Resurrect An Ally
It’s harder to heal party members in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake than other RPGs like Final Fantasy. There are spells to resurrect the dead but they are inaccurate all except for Kazing which will revive a party member 100% of the time. The other best way is to go to a priest or nun located at a church in town. Dragon Quest is a series that truly wants players to work for their adventure, including resurrecting their dead. It’s hardcore but at least spells like Kazing exist even though it takes a long time to unlock through leveling up a Priest.
