However, Sweet Gem Berry isn’t the only top crop to harvest in fall. Several other options, which are easier to mass-produce, can surpass the profitability of this magical berry.

Calculating the profit of fall crops is further complicated by the fact that some crops produce multiple harvests, which can make them appear more profitable than others. Tier List Criteria:

• S: Crops that are easy to farm and yield considerable profit. (Cranberry and grape seeds are relatively cheap, increasing the profit margin.)
• A: Crops that may not be easy to farm but are profitable. (Sweet Gem Berry is the most valuable fall crop. Pumpkin, on the other hand, is a profitable option for those seeking a reliable and sturdy crop.)
• B: Exotic crops that are fun to harvest—and can be profitable as well. (Broccoli and Fairy Rose seeds are difficult to obtain. But both of them are interesting crops to have on the farm and can be sold for a reasonable profit.)

Best Early-Game Crop: Eggplant

The Seed Is Cheap, the Crop Is Profitable

Not every farmer has the infrastructure to mass-produce high-end fall crops. For these players, there is an underrated option that’s easy to grow and reasonably profitable: Eggplant.

Eggplant seeds cost 20 gold, so for 100 gold, a player can buy five. The key is that Eggplant is a multi-harvest crop, meaning that the initial 100 gold investment will bring in 1,400 gold by season’s end. This makes it an excellent starting crop for beginners who can take advantage of its 200% profit per harvest to maximize early-game earnings, especially when crops like Cranberry are not yet feasible.

Best Overall Fall Crop: Cranberry

A Crop That Ticks All The Boxes Evenly

• Sales Price: 165g (Up to 821g When Dries)
• Best Feature: Easy to Mass-Produce

Cranberries are among the top five most profitable crops. The profit margin for this berry is as high as 1,500g per year, while most other fall crops yield under 500g. What makes this crop a perfect fall harvest, however, is its ease of acquisition. You can buy a pack of Cranberry Seed for 240g from the General Store and use the Seed Maker to reproduce the seed on your farm.

Another money-making fall harvest is grapes. After the initial ten days, grapes regrow every three days, enabling you to double or triple the revenue. However, the best way to exploit grapes on your farm is by using them to create artisan goods. You can turn grapes into raisins with a Dehydrator and sell each pack for up to 840g—or you could make grape jam, selling each jar for up to 294g.

Second-Best Fall Crop: Pumpkins

Excellent Profitable Giant Option

• Best Feature: Can be giant

The second-best crop to grow during fall is Pumpkins. Pumpkins are extremely profitable, selling for 320 gold each at normal quality and 640 at iridium quality (704g if you’re a Tiller). However, they take quite some time to grow. Pumpkins take a full 13 days to ripen without Speed-Gro, meaning players will only be able to sell 2 rounds of pumpkins during fall.

Still, they’re very valuable in other ways as well. While they aren’t edible, pumpkins are used in a number of recipes and Bundles at the Community Center. Additionally, pumpkins are loved by Abigail, Krobus, and Willy.

Pumpkins have a chance to become a giant crop in Stardew Valley as well. By planting pumpkins in 3×3 grids, there’s a small chance each day that the crop can become giant. Giant crops can be harvested with an axe and yield around 15 to 21 units of the crop.

Best Rare Fall Crop: Broccoli

Mass-producing broccoli in Stardew Valley isn’t the most profitable business. Despite the challenge of obtaining Broccoli seeds, Pelican Town residents show little interest in them, resulting in low sales prices. However, Broccoli remains a fun crop to harvest in the fall for two reasons: 1) it’s a new crop that adds an aesthetically pleasing touch to your farm, and 2) you can still earn decent money by selling pickled Broccoli.

For those wondering, no retailer offers Broccoli seeds. The only way to obtain them is by completing Raccoon Bundles or trading with the Raccoon’s Wife. (You will meet the Raccoon after “The Giant Stump” quest, which was added with the 1.6 update.)

Most Valuable Fall Crop: Sweet Gem Berry

The Crop That Brings In The Most Money

The Sweet Gem Berry grows during fall and is technically the most profitable crop in Stardew Valley. It grows from rare seeds purchased from the Traveling Cart, usually costing between 600-1,000g. After a player reaches level 9 of farming, they will acquire a seed maker, which produces a rare seed when a sweet gem berry is put in. Typically, only one seed is acquired at a time and sweet gem berries take a full 24 days to grow. Still, it sells for a minimum of 3,000 gold and a maximum of 6,000 gold, depending on quality.

Even though it is a high-valued item, when given to any NPC, they will look at it as a neutral gift. There is also a secret that is tagged onto this item. Spoilers are ahead for players who want to find secrets naturally in the game! When players unlock the secret woods, players can give Old Master Cannoli a sweet gem berry, and receive a starfruit in return.

Fall Crop To Avoid: Sunflowers

A Flower Not Worth A Player’s Time

• Growth Cycle: 8 Days
• Sales Price: Up to 176g
• Best Feature: Can be used to produce oil

Out of all the crops provided for players, the least profitable and least valuable are the Sunflowers. If players are working on the Community Center, note that growing at least one sunflower is needed to complete the Dye Bundle on the Bulletin Board section.

However, other than that, it costs 200g to purchase the seeds, but only 80g when selling them. Their growth time is 8 days, which is not worth it for players to waste farmland space just to lose money.

How to Pick the Best Crop for Fall
