GSC Game World’s STALKER 2 continues to improve in the days following its launch, with the developer continuing to support the title much in the same way it did with the original STALKER. STALKER 2 may have landed a mixed critical reception, but the response from fans has been almost overwhelmingly positive, including the title selling over a million units in a day and remaining one of the top 5 best-selling games on Steam. In addition to a massive day 1 patch that arrived alongside the retail release of the game, STALKER 2 recently received a massive 1.0 1 patch, with a follow-up 1.0 2 patch arriving just a day later.
Together, both of these patches illustrate GSC Game World’s commitment to making STALKER 2 continually better in the coming weeks and months. While the majority of the fixes present in the recent patches aim to address lingering performance issues and some of the rougher edges of elements like the in-game item economy, GSC Game World has acknowledged issues with more fundamental elements like the A-Life 2.0 system. Though the two recent patches don’t address any issues specific to A-Life 2.0, they do tackle several game-breaking bugs related to quest progression that should result in far fewer frustrations among the player base.

There’s been a lot of discussion about The Game Awards needing to change its annual date, and STALKER 2 is the just the latest case in a long line.
Everything Addressed in STALKER 2’s 1.0 1 Patch
GSC Game World pushed out STALKER 2‘s 1.0 1 patch on November 29, bringing roughly 650 changes to the game primarily aimed at stability and addressing fan feedback on the game’s economy. One of the major issues addressed by the patch is the cost of repairing weapons and armor, which was previously fairly steep given that item degradation is a core component of gameplay. Additionally, the rewards for quest completion (typically in the form of STALKER 2‘s currency, digital coupons) were increased, while the Rookie difficulty setting received buffs to player damage output and damage reduction. Of the 650 changes introduced in the patch, some of the more notable adjustments to STALKER 2 include:
- Percentage reductions in weapon and armor degradation
- Reduced cost of repairing weapons and armor
- Increased quest rewards
- Increased revenue from selling Artifacts
- Armor and weapons receive buffs on Rookie difficulty
- Mutant damage reduced on Rookie difficulty
- Adding in missing sound effects
- Fixing quest bugs related to item drops
- Reduction of item weights
Along with some of these more notable fixes, there are dozens of other adjustments to help improve the game’s stability and performance while also reducing audiovisual bugs. Perhaps most notably, crowded areas should no longer see significant performance drops or crashes due to insufficient memory.
STALKER 2’s 1.0 2 Patch Tackles Quest Bugs and More
While the more significant changes to STALKER 2‘s balance, in-game economy, and performance were delivered courtesy of the 1.0 1 patch, GSC Game World quickly followed up Friday’s fixes with a second patch just a day later on November 30. Patch 1.0 2 makes further corrections to some errors resulting from Patch 1.0 1 while also focusing specifically on 6 quests and their potential to result in game-breaking bugs limiting progression. The full list of patch notes is available on STALKER 2‘s Steam Store page, but the quests fixed by the patch include:
- “On the Edge”
- “A Minor Incident”
- “Just Like the Good Old Days”
- “All That is Left”
- “Down Below”
- “Visions of Truth”
In addition to the quest-specific adjustments arriving as part of Patch 1.0 2, there are several more fixes aimed at addressing the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors players were receiving as a result of memory leaks. Taken as a whole, these two most recent patches should see STALKER 2 in a more improved state, with other patches and fixes already promised by GSC Game World in the coming weeks.
