Over on Reddit, Pokemon TCG fan Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood shared their new bounty with other players and explained how it came about. Apparently, Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood walked into a gas station and saw a display with Pokemon cards for sale from the recent Surging Sparks expansion. With roughly 20 packs on display, Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood got the idea to simply ask the store clerk if they could take the store display if they bought all the card packs being shown on it. The store clerk agreed, and the result is seen in the Reddit post’s photo, with the store display stashed in the back seat of the fan’s car.
Pokemon TCG Players Share Their Own Loot
Some Pokemon TCG collectors responding have been a bit envious, and hadn’t considered asking for something like this previously. However, several others shared photos of their own store displays that they’d been able to bring home, including one fan with another Surging Sparks store display, and another with a Pokemon TCG Sword & Shield Fushion Strike display. In some cases, fans have asked for the display like Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood did, while in others, store clerks have simply offered them to fans.
Generally, store displays like these tend to get tossed or returned once a promotion is over. Some Pokemon fans with retail experience expressed that taking home a store display like this could actually be doing the gas station a favor, as they don’t have to deal with breaking it down themselves now. While Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood sadly didn’t find the Special Illustration Rare Pikachu card in the numerous packs that were included on the display that they were looking for. That particular card has been at the top of many fans’ wishlists, and buying it solo has been quite expensive for some collectors. While it’s a shame they didn’t get exactly what they wanted, for some, what Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood came away with is still pretty rare and cool.
