Fortnite Fans Have a Big Problem With Kicks

Key Takeaways

  • Fortnite players believe the price of Kicks should be “cut in half.”
  • The new cosmetic item was released on November 21 after being delayed.
  • Prices for Kicks range from 600 to 1,000 V-Bucks.

Fortnite players aren’t happy with Kicks, the latest cosmetic addition to Epic Games’ massively successful Battle Royale title, as they believe the price point needs to be “cut in half.” After their initial release was delayed, Fortnite finally added Kicks to the in-game store back in November, allowing players to purchase various styles of trainers and shoes to equip on their character. While the studio has teamed up with the likes of Nike for the new cosmetic item, fans believe they are far too expensive and cannot justify spending the V-Bucks on them.

Earlier today, Epic Games kicked off the highly-anticipated sixth Chapter of Fortnite with a brand-new content update. After various leaks and rumors, Fortnite fans can now officially jump into Chapter 6 Season 1: Hunters. The new Japanese-themed season has introduced a plethora of new content, including a fresh Battle Royale island for players to check out, new collaborations with Disney and Godzilla, and plenty of new cosmetic items.

Fortnite Players Think Kicks Are Too Expensive

While Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 brings with it plenty of new skins and cosmetic items, fans still want to see the price of Kicks adjusted. In a new post on Reddit, user VincentWeir says that Epic Games should “cut the prices of Kicks in half.” They then state no one is going to buy the cosmetic item at that price point, before showcasing a picture from the in-game store, which shows the majority of Kicks are priced at 1,000 V-Bucks or higher (with the exception of the Meow-Soles, which are 600 V-Bucks). For reference, it costs $8.99 on the official Fortnite store to obtain 1,000 V-Bucks.

The post, which has garnered almost 8,000 upvotes, has plenty of players in agreement. Reddit user EveryandEggy says, “You can barely see feet in the game,” while Banjoface123 believes that 200-500 V-Bucks would be “a fair price” for Kicks, but the current cost that Epic Games is asking for is “out of touch.” Clearly, Fortnite‘s new Kicks cosmetic hasn’t gone down well with the community, as users have also pointed out that not all Kicks can be equipped on every skin in the game.

To make matters worse, Epic Games recently confirmed it would also be increasing the price of the Fortnite Battle Pass from Chapter 6 Season 1. Previously, fans could pick up the latest Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks but, as of December 1, players will need to fork out 1,000 V-Bucks to obtain the pass. With the price of V-Bucks rising back in 2023, fans are clearly reluctant to spend the precious currency on a cosmetic item that can barely be seen in-game.
