Do NOT Miss Your Chance to Watch the New Fate Series Early

Key Takeaways

  • Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel & Fate/Strange Fake will be available on streaming services in December 2024.
  • Fate franchise started with Fate/Stay Night game in 2004 & has since spawned various media adaptations.
  • Heaven’s Feel trilogy follows Emiya in Fifth Holy Grail War while Strange Fake began as a parody but became a novel & manga.

Fate fans will have a lot of content to enjoy (or re-enjoy) in December, when both Fate/Strange Fake and Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel hit streaming services. November 23 was indeed a big day for Fate fans, and now December will make them even more happy.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Fate is something a bit hard to explain. It started with the Fate/Stay Night game, launched in 2004 in Japan. Today, a remastered version titled Fate/stay night REMASTERED is available on some platforms. Anyway, the first game focuses on Shirou Emiya, a man who discovers that secret battles take place between Masters who summon “Servants”, spirits of heroes and heroines. He is bound to a Servant from the Saber class. The player can follow three routes: Destiny, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven’s Feel.

The Fate/Stay Night Sequel That Needs To Happen

There’s no clear-cut sequel to the original visual novel, but fans have already witnessed what would be a great continuation.

The Fate story spawned several media, including spin-offs and anime adaptations for each route of the original game. The Heaven’s Feel trilogy adapts the same name route, and Fate/Strange Fake is a joke spin-off. Heaven’s Feel movie trilogy will be available on Crunchyroll and Hulu from December 19, 2024, and Fake/Strange Fake’s first episode debuts on Crunchyroll on December 31st (as part of the classic Fate New Year Special), and a dubbed version is also confirmed:

Fate/stay night Heaven’s Feel Story

The next paragraph contains spoilers for the Heaven’s Feel story.

Produced by Ufotable (the same studio that adapts Demon Slayer), the movies debuted in Japan in 2017, 2019 and 2020 (respectively, of course). Together, they show Emiya being dragged to the Fifth Holy Grail War (big battles between mages/Masters and ther Servants). He wants to win the war to save the world and his friend, Sakura Matou, who has an abusive mage brother. But he loses it, and she not only gets a strange illness but also discovers she is a Master. He keeps trying to keep her safe, but later she is possessed. But Emiya will still give every power he has in order to try to save her.

The movies had a fair reception in Japan, usually reaching the top of the box office on their opening weekends. They also had good critical reception among niche fanbase.

Fate/Strange Fake Was Only A Joke

Fate/Strange Fake was originally an April’s Fool prank posted on Ryogo Narita’s website on April 1, 2008. Narita is the creator of Durarara, and it was posted as a Fate parody titled Fake/states night. But it spawned a novel series and later a manga anyway.

The story takes place in the United States, when an organization tries to copy the Third Holy Grail War. The first Strange Fake anime adaptation was the -Whispers of Dawn- special released in 2023 and that could serve as a prologue to this new anime TV series, with a recurring cast and main staff. Both the series and the special are produced by studio A-1 Pictures.
