Aeternum’s Season 7 Marks Big Item Off Players’ Wishlists

Recently, a “Living Roadmap” was revealed for New World: Aeternum that details some of the changes coming in the Season 7 update in January 2025, as well as the studio’s tentative plans for the game’s future updates for the next few Seasons and beyond. Among all of the upcoming features revealed in New World: Aeternum’s Season 7 Roadmap, the Season 7 update is set to finally deliver a big item that’s been on players’ wishlists since the game’s original launch over three years ago.

Seasonal Worlds are coming to New World: Aeternum starting in Season 7, and the first of which will be making major changes to open-world PvP, namely improving the loot dropped by other players when killed, and having PvP always on. While these experimental features will initially only be available in the limited-time Seasonal World, there’s hope that players’ feedback could potentially inspire changes from Seasonal Worlds to become permanent additions to the game.

New World: Aeternum’s Seasonal 7 Update Will be a Game-Changer for Open-World PvP

Open-world PvP is often considered the peak of New World: Aeternum’s gameplay loop for both pre- and post-endgame. Despite the potential for fun and memorable experiences though, the arguably lackluster rewards from open-world PvP don’t quite manage to encourage players to participate in this activity compared to other, more rewarding PvP activities in New World: Aeternum. Consequently, it’s a common trend for players to flag themselves for open-world PvP to benefit from the associated increased xp and luck, meanwhile actively avoiding participating in PvP to use these benefits specifically for PvE content.

Many players who enjoy New World: Aeternum’s open-world PvP have been calling for better incentives to participate in this activity in hopes of combating the declining player support that it often faces. This has been a highly requested feature ever since New World: Aeternum’s original launch over three years ago, meaning the new Seasonal World with improved rewards and always-on open-world PvP will finally be delivering a big item off players’ wishlists. So, while participating in Seasonal Worlds will require players to restart their progress with a new character every few months, it’s arguably a small price to pay for players who’ve been waiting for this feature for years.

New World: Aeternum’s Seasonal Worlds Could Shape the Game’s Future

Beyond the temporary improvements to open-world PvP, the new Seasonal Worlds feature also has massive implications for New World: Aeternum’s future and longevity. For the time being, these improvements to New World: Aeternum’s open-world PvP mentioned will be exclusive to the new Seasonal World. However, depending on the community feedback and support for Seasonal Worlds, this could potentially influence the changes introduced in Seasonal Worlds to become permanent additions to the game, or otherwise to return in future Seasons.
