The motto of the Pokemon series is “Gotta catch ’em all,” and, since the franchise’s inception, many players have taken that completely seriously. Even with over one thousand Pokemon now available, some players try to collect every one, often in a single game. Pokemon GO has been a valuable resource for these collectors, as it includes Pokemon from every generation with more added. Now, with one particularly rare Pokemon being extremely difficult to obtain, collectors should turn to Pokemon GO to add this powerful being to their team.

There Are Very Few Ways To Obtain Necrozma
Necrozma is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokemon introduced in Generation 7. It is connected to the Ultra Beasts, and there is debate about whether it should be considered an Ultra Beast or not. It is one of the primary antagonists of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the updated re-release of the Generation 7 games, and can only be captured very late in the game.
Since its release, the Generation 7 games were the primary method of catching Necrozma. From there, the Pokemon could be traded or transferred to other games, including Generations 8 and 9. However, in April 2024, Nintendo shut down the online servers for its Nintendo 3DS handheld device, limiting players’ ability to catch and transfer Necrozma from these games.
It Can Still Be Found In The Crown Tundra – But It Is Quite Difficult To Obtain
There is one method of obtaining Necrozma in the Pokemon games on the Nintendo Switch: it appears as part of a “Dynamax Adventures” mission in Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra DLC. However, the path to catching Necrozma in this manner is not an easy one.
Players must first hunt down several Legendary Pokemon: Calyrex, the Galarian forms of Generation 1’s Legendary Birds, and a number of Pokemon from the Regi- family. After this, they obtain the fourth Legendary Clue, which allows the Ultra Beasts – including Necrozma – to be found in Max Lairs. However, even this is no guarantee, as Necrozma has a very low spawn rate – around one percent.
Pokemon GO Is Holding A Necrozma Raid Day On December 14
Necrozma was previously introduced to Pokemon GO earlier in 2024, during the GO Fest event. It was a reward for completing a series of Special Research tasks. Players needed to participate in GO Fest to be able to claim the Special Research and eventually unlock Necrozma.
Now, Necrozma returns as part of a Raid Day event occurring on December 14, 2024. Both of its forms, Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings, will be appearing frequently in raids between 2PM and 5PM local time on that day. Players will also be able to purchase additional Raid Passes and Remote Raid Passes, allowing them to enter more Raids than usual during the event. A caught Necrozma will be able to be fused with a player’s previously owned Solgaleo or Lunala to unlock additional effects; these fusions will cost Energy and Candy.
Collectors looking to obtain a Necrozma and transfer it to Pokemon Home or one of the Nintendo Switch games should definitely consider participating in the Raid Day. Although Raids against Legendary Pokemon are fairly difficult, and there is no guarantee of catching the Pokemon at the end, it is still one of the best methods of obtaining this notoriously rare and tricky Pokemon. Even people who are not regular Pokemon GO players should consider giving the mobile game a temporary try during the Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma event, even if they do not continue playing afterward.
