What to Expect From Wuthering Waves 2.0

Wuthering Waves is in the final weeks of Version 1 before it updates to Version 2. Set to launch on January 2, this also marks Wuthering Waves‘ arrival on PlayStation 5, including a celebratory launch bundle. To coincide with this announcement, Kuro Games confirmed that the action RPG would fully sync game progress across mobile devices, PC, and the PlayStation 5.

Wuthering Waves‘ progress since its launch over half a year ago is impressive. Not only is it a contender for the title of Best Mobile Game at the 2024 Game Awards, but it also won for best audio and visual accomplishments at Pocket Gamer’s Mobile Game Awards. Excitingly, Wuthering Waves Version 2.0 will delve into a new region, introduce new Resonators, and unveil updated character designs for Sanhua and Jinhsi.

Wuthering Waves 2.0 Unveils 5 New Resonators

Wuthering Waves Rinascita Resonators

Wuthering Waves Version 1.0 introduced 24 playable characters, including Rover. Several Resonators originated from Huanglong, the New Federation, and the Black Shores organization. Notably, the post-apocalyptic world of Solaris-3 is home to six known nations, including Rinascita, which is confirmed to be the next explorable region. Following extensive drip marketing seen on Kuro Games’ official social media accounts, it’s also been revealed that Wuthering Waves will add at least five new characters during patch 2.0.

Currently, the confirmed 2.0 Resonators, in order of their reveals, include:

The teasers give players a good idea of the upcoming banners in Wuthering Waves Version 2.0. However, little is known about their playstyles or weapons of choice besides what can be gathered through the splash art and associated quotes. Notably, since these Resonators hail from an entirely different nation, they could introduce new combat mechanics and Echoes. For example, Carlotta is shown with a musket, a weapon that has never been available for playable characters in Wuthering Waves before.

Lore-wise, Carlotta is the second daughter of the esteemed noble Montelli family of Rinascita, known for their elegance and influence. Wuthering Waves will likely debut Carlotta in the first phase of Version 2.0’s banners. According to Kuro Games on X (formerly Twitter), “Carlotta infuses the profound beauty of art into every strike, cradling radiant crystallites in her hands to deliver an elegant eulogy.” Conversely, Roccia is a gifted comedian who carries a peculiar box with her. As the First Mate of the Fool’s Troupe, she masters stage props and drama. Roccia is expected to be part of the Phase Two banners.

Background information for the other three 2.0 Resonators has yet to be revealed. It is worth noting that only Brant, Phoebe, and Roccia have visible Tacet marks.

Wuthering Waves Is Traveling To Its First New Region: Rinascita

When Rinascita was revealed as the focus of Wuthering Waves‘ next big update, it was confirmed to be a hidden archipelago on a distant shore known as “the Land of Echoes.” In the trailer, the community caught a glimpse of Carlotta and Roccia. Moreover, recent drip marketing has continually emphasized the region’s flair for drama, creativity, and commercialism. From what’s been revealed, the story focuses on a mysterious Sentinel and a long-anticipated Carnevale, a celebration likely inspired by Italian traditions.

“Rinascita is a hidden archipelago on a distant shore known as ‘the Land of Echoes.'”

The city showcased in the Wuthering Waves 2.0 release date trailer appears to be Ragunna, one of Rinascita’s vibrant city-states, similar to Jinzhou in Huanglong. Interestingly, Rinascita and the Black Shores are known to have a tumultuous relationship. It’s run by elite families like Carlotta’s, where power and wealth are paramount. It’s also a place where Echoes are said to be sentient, like Abby, the small cat-like Echo who was sealed within Rover’s body at the start of the game.

Players should expect new companion stories, quests, echoes, and bosses in patch 2.0. With the addition of the Dream Link combat mechanism in Version 1.4’s Somnium Labyrinth event, Kuro Games may introduce similar features in the next update alongside various quality-of-life changes. It’s recommended that the community refer to Wuthering Waves‘ official social media as the release date for Version 2.0 draws nearer.
