What to Expect From Guntouchables

As 2024 draws to an end, many in the gaming world are starting to turn their attention toward next year’s slate of upcoming titles. And while giant 2025 releases like Grand Theft Auto 6, Ghost of Yote i, Borderlands 4, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Civilization 7 are the talk of the town, a handful of promising Indie games are also set to release next year; games like Guntouchables.

Announced just a few days ago, Guntouchables is a roguelike co-op game being developed by Indie studio Game Swing, and published by Deep Rock Galactic‘s Ghost Ship. Though it’s far too early to judge properly, Guntouchables looks like it could be a really fun and engaging Indie title, and one that deserves a spotlight ahead of its slated 2025 launch.

The Game Awards are already rife with controversy, but there’s one indie game omission that has a subset of fans beyond puzzled.

What Players Should Expect From Guntouchables

Guntouchables is a Co-Op Roguelike Horde Shooter

Set in the aftermath of the apocalypse, Guntouchables sees players assuming the role of a titular doomsday-prepper-turned-vindicated-survivor. With up to three friends, players will make their way through the post-apocalypse, all the while killing hordes of mutated bad guys and upgrading their arsenal. Guntouchables will be played from a top-down perspective, evoking memories of other twin-stick roguelike shooters like Enter the Gungeon.

Guntouchables Is Putting An Emphasis on Build Variety

In both Guntouchables‘ reveal trailer and its official press release, developer Game Swing makes it clear that customization and build variety are at the heart of the Guntouchables experience. Four eponymous survivors are shown during Guntouchables‘ trailer, each one coming with a unique starting ability such as an exclusive melee attack or the ability to throw grenades.

From there, players will be able to upgrade their characters in a few different ways. Each stage in Guntouchables will reward players with UpCrates, a chest containing a few different possible upgrades. These range from Perks like increased health to Abilities like sprinting. Players will also be presented with a handful of Mutations at the start of each level. These Mutations will simultaneously make enemies more challenging while giving the team a useful bonus, like double cash rewards for the mission’s duration. It’s also teased that players will be able to customize and upgrade their weapons.

Guntouchables Will Launch in Early Access in Q2 2025

According to Guntouchables‘ official website, developer Game Swing is looking to launch the game in Q2 2025, which theoretically means sometime between April 1 and June 30. When Guntouchables releases, it’ll enter Early Access on Steam, where the community will become a vital part of the game’s growth.

In Guntouchables‘ recent press release, Game Swing states that it’s “striving to be as open, fair and transparent as possible” when it comes to developing the game during its Early Access period. Game Swing has also stated that Guntouchables has been designed to be an “easily expandable experience,” so players should see plenty of content updates in the game’s future.

If players are planning to keep an eye on Guntouchables ahead of its release next year, they may want to join the game’s official Discord server, where Game Swing will post updates on the game’s development process. This Discord channel will also likely be the go-to spot for giving the developers constructive feedback once Guntouchables launches into Steam Early Access.

Guntouchables

GUNTOUCHABLES is a 1-4 player co-op roguelite shooter where the enemies evolve just like the players.

The world has fallen. After a terrible incident in an experimental research facility, the surface has been overrun by a hostile and constantly-evolving horde of mutants. A ragtag group of armed survivors are taking matters into their own hands and leaving the safety of their shelters to clean up after the Government.

A DESPERATE ARMS RACE: To improve the group’s chances of survival when going face-to-face with the enemy, the players must find and recover UpCrates giving them powerful new perks and abilities. HOWEVER… any UpCrate left behind will be obtained and used by the mutants to grow more powerful and develop new abilities.

As if this wasn’t enough, the Threat Level is gradually rising with each UpCrate the group secures.

UPGRADES AND WEAPONS: No pain, no gain! Complete side objectives to earn Cash that can be traded for a wide arsenal of powerful weapons including explosive launchers, machine guns, shotguns, and pistols. Every UpCrate you find contains Perks that may enhance basic stats like HP, speed, stamina, or ammo capacity, or work as complementary augmentation for the unique abilities of each class.
