One creative fan of the Pokemon series designs a new form for Octillery, a regional variant featuring the Water and Steel types.

Artist and Pokemon fan Apprehensive_Bee_636 shared a ridiculously perfect mashup between the second generation Pokemon Quagsire and Quagmire from the animated TV series Family Guy. Quagsire made its debut with the Gen 2 Pokemon creatures, which were introduced in the 1999 Gameboy Color Pokemon games, Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. The Water-Ground type Pokemon’s original design is based on the Giant Salamander of China and Japan, but OP’s creativity led to them recreating the pocket monster with a focus on its name. Many who are familiar with the work of Seth MacFarlane have likely heard of the show Family Guy, which features a character named Quagmire. Considering the similarity of the names, OP decided to fuse the two together, creating a hilarious new Pokemon fusion monster.

Fellow fans shared humorous comments on the “uncanny valley” design of the Quagsire-Quagmire pocket monster artwork, with some joking that the Pokemon’s Ground type background would clash with the Family Guy character’s career as an airline pilot. Others teased that it could be a profitable collaboration, considering the success of fellow Family Guy character Peter Griffin in Fortnite. While its unlikely that The Pokemon Company and Seth MacFarlane will offer any official character fusion monsters, the Pokemon fandom has taken joy in the hilariously unexpected mashup.
