In a post-Season 6 developer update, Amazon Games said that it has already started to prototype plenty of game modes for New World: Aeternum that have appeared in other titles, such as capture the flag and the ever-popular battle royale. These modes supposedly fit well into the class-based New World: Aeternum, which, according to Amazon Games, already has systems that can be found in battle royales. The studio’s latest roadmap labeled these prototypes as in-development, so Amazon Games cannot commit to providing a timeline for them. The community’s feedback on these announced developments, however, will determine how they will ultimately turn out and help with deciding the order of their release, according to New World: Aeternum game director Scot Lane.

Other in-development initiatives include a mode based on the Invasions PvE event, improvements on endgame progression, and global storage, among other things. Amazon Games is also working on more Seasonal Worlds, a mechanic that will debut in Season 7. An additional map for the Outpost Rush mode, upgrades to Mutated Expeditions, and more daily solo trials are coming in New World: Aeternum‘s next season as well. Meanwhile, new weapons, raids, and zones for the game are still in their early development stages, alongside features like ranked PvP, raid difficulty levels, and zone uplevels.

Amazon Games’ multiplayer title is currently hosting a seasonal experience called Turkulon. The New World: Aeternum Thanksgiving event, which offers plenty of special rewards, is set to end on December 3. It also has a featured boss like the game’s previous Halloween-themed Nightveil Hallow.

New World: Aeternum has managed to garner an average score of 73 on review aggregate site OpenCritic. Many have praised the title for its combat, visuals, scale, and accessibility. However, the game is supposedly being dragged down by its lackluster world, grind, and technical issues.
