Markiplier Addresses Whether He’ll Appear in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is moving into production right now and after the first movie saw a few familiar faces from YouTube make a cameo, many are wondering whether FNAF’s biggest fan could appear in the sequel.

Blumhouse is the studio responsible for bringing Five Nights at Freddy’s and its sequel to the screen. The adaptation of Scott Cawthon’s children’s horror games took almost a decade in development, but the result was worth the wait as the FNAF movie shot to box office success. The story in the games of Five Nights at Freddy’s is fairly limited, but the games have developed a wealth of lore and popular theories thanks to fan involvement over the years. YouTubers and streamers are a particularly big part of the Five Nights at Freddy’s community, and the team behind the movie decided to pay tribute to this in the film adaptation by including cameos from influencers like MatPat and CoryxKenshin.

Will Markiplier Appear in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2?

One YouTuber fans were hoping to see in Five Nights at Freddy’s was Markiplier (aka Mark Fischbach), whose channel became renowned for his Five Nights at Freddy’s playthrough videos. The streamer was originally supposed to have an appearance in the film, playing another security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s pizzeria, but Markiplier had to pull out of the role due to his commitments to other projects. With Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 now moving forward, fans are hoping there may be a second chance for Markiplier to make his long-awaited cameo.

Markiplier addressed this question in an episode of the PowerWash Pals Podcast posted on November 26. Markiplier had a disappointing update on this front saying “In all honesty, no one has reached out, which is totally fine, … I think they started filming it already so at this point I don’t think it’s going to happen.” The filmmaker added that if they did approach him to appear in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 he would hope to have a similar-sized role lined up rather than just a quick cameo. Some have questioned whether Markiplier could be lying about having a role in the sequel, as fellow YouTuber MatPat did a similar thing leading up to his appearance in Five Nights at Freddy’s and ended up being in the film. At this point, it’s up to fans whether they think Markiplier could appear in FNAF 2 or not, but at this stage, it appears unlikely.

Why Markiplier Was Cut From the First Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie

Markiplier also explained how his original role in the first FNAF film came about, revealing he was initially supposed to play the cab driver in the movie (a role that CoryxKenshin ended up playing), but asked the game’s creator, Scott Cawthon, whether he could have a more substantial role that he could bring his acting experience to. This resulted in him being cast as the security guard, who is killed in the opening of the movie, but Markiplier ended up having to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. “I wanted to do it, I was ready to do it, it was just schedules got misaligned with Iron Lung and filming,” he said.

Markiplier still maintains that busy schedule, with the actor recently leading The Edge of Sleep on Prime Video and still working towards releasing his directorial debut, Iron Lung. So whether he’d have time to appear in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, even if there was a role for him, is another factor at play.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is scheduled for release in December 2025.
