When Lies of P was first announced back in May 2021, it gained immediate traction due to its premise alone. A gritty soulslike take on Pinocchio may have sounded a bit outlandish at first, but it was certainly an intriguing idea. Upon Lies of P‘s September 2023 launch, fans soon realized that the game’s premise wasn’t its only strong suit, with its satisfying combat systems, creative boss and enemy designs, and rewarding weapon and character upgrade systems all quickly cementing Lies of P as one of the best soulslikes around.
But despite what some of Lies of P‘s endings might have players believe, this isn’t the end of Pinocchio’s journey just yet. A Lies of P DLC and sequel were both officially confirmed just two months after the game’s initial launch last year, and in a recent press release from co-developer Neowiz, that DLC is now confirmed to be coming in 2025, which paves the way for Lies of P to have a big year.

Lies of P’s DLC Now Has a 2025 Release Window
In a recent statement from developer Neowiz – originally published by Korean news outlet EBN – Lies of P‘s DLC now officially has a release window of Q1 2025. This means that, technically speaking, Lies of P‘s DLC could release anytime between January 1, 2025 and March 31, 2025. This release window might be a bit of a double-edged sword for Lies of P.
While Lies of P‘s DLC releasing in Q1 2025 means that fans will be able to play it in just a few months’ time, it might not be the smartest business move for developers Neowiz and Round 8 Studios. Q1 2025 is already looking pretty stacked for the video game industry, with February in particular being a hotbed for anticipated releases. Games like Civilization 7, Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Avowed, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii are all set to release in February.
While Lies of P‘s DLC will probably still gain traction regardless of when it released next year, it needs to be a little cautious of launching in the midst of all these huge upcoming releases.
What Fans Should Expect From Lies of P’s DLC
Despite confirmation that the DLC is being worked on, developers Neowiz and Round 8 have been pretty tight-lipped about what fans can actually expect from the DLC’s content. Earlier this year, Lies of P‘s Game Director, Jiwan Choi, said “For the DLC of the Lies of P and the sequel, we aim to do better on what we did well and improve in areas we have room to grow.”
Aside from this comment and a piece of concept art or two over the last year or so, nothing else has been announced for the DLC or for the upcoming sequel. It does seem likely, however, that Lies of P‘s Wizard of Oz post-credits teaser will be saved for the sequel, though it could be setup during the DLC. This setup could be as simple as an item description referencing the Emerald City, or as overt as a full-blown Dorothy cameo.
Neowiz and Round 8’s Next Game Has Been Confirmed
In the same announcement as Lies of P‘s DLC release date confirmation, developer Neowiz confirmed that its next project (alongside Round 8) will be a Sci-Fi survival horror game. With the likes of Cronos: The New Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020 also in development, the Sci-Fi survival horror genre might be about to see a resurgence.
