Helldivers 2 players are used to Arrowhead’s jokes by now. The developer has a wholesome habit of doing everything in character, whether it’s to make announcements, patch notes, or even just to mess with players. This makes any interaction with the devs a fun one, especially considering the subtle messaging of the game.

Helldivers 2 Should Have Revealed The Illuminate Months Ago
Players are just going in circles waiting for something worthwhile to happen.
This approach has led to some amazing things, like John Helldiver being made canon, Super Earth approving someone’s actual wedding, and even a blatantly named update to tease the arrival of the Illuminate. However, some players think the devs are just messing with them, especially when it comes to a fan-favourite weapon.
Is The LAS-16 Sickle Getting Bigger And Bigger?
The LAS-16 Sickle is one of the best assault rifles in the game, working great against bugs and bots alike. It sprays ammo fast and tight and works on a cool-down system, so you don’t have to worry about reloading if you’re careful. However, fans of Reddit, like Paxelic and Impossible-Pie2924 have been noticing something strange in the last few weeks – the Sickle appears to grow larger with every update.
Now here’s where things get confusing. The rifle has definitely become larger since it launched with the Cutting Edge Warbond. However, everyone is unsure whether this was just a routine visual update or if the devs are trying to see if anyone notices. Arrowhead hasn’t officially said anything about this, but knowing the devs, they could possibly be laughing behind the scenes about it.
However, the growing size of the weapon hasn’t seemed to have affected it in any way. Apart from being a part of Arrowhead’s 60-day update plan to improve the game overall, it doesn’t appear to get more powerful with every growth spurt it receives. The least they could do was improve the cooldown on it.
Speaking of Arrowhead’s humour, a number of Helldivers 2 updates were lined up on SteamDB, suspiciously named “gameplay_illuminates”. While it looked like the game would finally reveal the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, fans were unsure, and thought the devs could just be trolling as usual. For all we know, it could be an update to the lighting system.
